Adult ADHD - the secret source of addiction & depression..? This is very important to us.

Hey there,
I am 24 and have recently been diagnosed with ADHD. My whole world changed.
This condition is not what most people think it is, and it might be extremely relevant for our community. So please read this. It might be very important to you. I am not saying all of us have it now, don't worry. But I think it is extremely important to at least make sure it's not ADHD. If this post helps even one of you getting diagnosed with this condition, then this is more than worth it. Because many adult people never find out about it and try to fight and improve what they think are problems or bad traits but actually are symptoms, which is frustrating because they are not the real problem.
When I first read the headline of an article about "Adult ADHD" I thought to myself: "Well.. I am not that loud, annoying, running around type of person.. I might have been as a kid.. kind of.. but that's normal right?". Then I read this:
Adult ADHD symptoms may include:
"In adults, the main features of ADHD may include difficulty paying attention, impulsiveness and restlessness. Symptoms can range from mild to severe. Many adults with ADHD aren't aware they have it — they just know that everyday tasks can be a challenge."

Boy were my assumptions wrong. I had no clue what ADHD really is.
So, it's basically a neurotransmitter deficiencie in your brain. And no, it doesn't grow out as you become an adult. Some folks just learn to somewhat cope. It's pretty much genetic. Nothing psychological. Just means you're born with too little of certain chemicals in your brain.. which it needs to function well and be happy. So if you really wanna break it down, you basically don't have enough dopamine because your DNA hates you (it's not that simple but works for now). It also has a very high comorbidity rate. Which means if you have ADHD, you are at way higher risk of developing psychological conditions like Anxiety, depression, eating disorder etc. "A disproportionate number of children and adults with ADHD also experience depression. For example, researchers from the University of Chicago have found that adolescents with ADHD are 10 times more likely to develop depression than those without ADHD." That's why ADHD is very often overlooked while it actually might be the underlying problem and the depression (+ anxiety + "insert fun") is just a nice side effect on top, to make sure life is great :)
But because of lower dopamine levels and the brain constantly wanting to close that gap, folks are way more prone to addiction. We need input to not feel sad. To feel normal. Substance, gambling, gaming.
Oh, and having ADHD also causes your brain to produce stress hormones all the time. Like the same hormones "normal" people produce only when they experience stressful situations. Sounds awesome, I know!
Medication, with the right dosage, is the single most effective treatment. Because it just regulates the chemicals in your brain to a normal level. My initial reaction when I first tried medication.. I literally started crying.
For the first time in my life, my brain actually felt calm.

But then second reaction was like "No way this is how good normal feels like. This can't be true. I definitely am high. The dosage must be too high. This ain't real." --- it was real. I talked to my doc and he explained to me what it would feel like if the dosage was too high. Basically, it would definitely not calm you down like that. You could concentrate more, but you would get pretty nervous.
From there on I noticed so so many different things. I can't list all of them now but the most important thing is I was able to do things if that's what I really want to do now. Of course some things like studying aren't fun (if it's not very specific details about something in a game), but you might still want to do them. Because you should for your own good. I can just do these things now. If I really want to. I can still keep playing games or watching a show if I want to. But I don't have to.

Have a beautiful day everyone.

Oh, you can also do this little test if you want to.
Please get yourself checked if you struggle with even some of these things. They might seem like normal life stuff, but they're not.
Quick test:
1. I have difficulty getting organized.
2. When given a task, I usually procrastinate rather than doing it right away.
3. I work on a lot of projects, but can’t seem to complete most of them.
4. I tend to make decisions and act on them impulsively — like spending money, getting sexually involved with someone, diving into new activities, and changing plans.
5. I get bored easily.
6. No matter how much I do or how hard I try, I just can’t seem to reach my goals.
7. I often get distracted when people are talking; I just tune out or drift off.
8. I get so wrapped up in some things I do that I can hardly stop to take a break or switch to doing something else.
9. I tend to overdo things even when they’re not good for me — like compulsive shopping, drinking too much, overworking, and overeating.
10. I get frustrated easily and I get impatient when things are going too slowly.
11. My self-esteem is not as high as that of others I know.
12. I need a lot of stimulation from things like action movies and video games, new purchases, being among lively friends, driving fast or engaging in extreme sports.
13. I tend to say or do things without thinking, and sometimes that gets me into trouble.
14. I’d rather do things my own way than follow the rules and procedures of others.
15. I often find myself tapping a pencil, swinging my leg, or doing something else to work off nervous energy.
16. I can feel suddenly down when I’m separated from people, projects or things that I like to be involved with.
17. I see myself differently than others see me, and when someone gets angry with me for doing something that upset them I’m often very surprised.
18. Even though I worry a lot about dangerous things that are unlikely to happen to me, I tend to be careless and accident prone.
19. Even though I have a lot of fears, people would describe me as a risk taker.
20. I make a lot of careless mistakes.
21. I have blood relatives who suffer from ADHD, another neurological disorder, or substance abuse.
If you answered yes to 15 of these questions, you show signs of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD or ADD). However, you can still have ADHD even if you answered yes to fewer than 15 of these questions. This informal test is intended as a general guide only; share it with your doctor for further analysis.

Surviving a BPD breakup: One Dude's Journey

Surviving a BPD breakup: one dude’s journey
Disclaimer: BPD is a spectrum of traits. Not everyone who holds these traits has BPD. Moreover, everyone’s experience with a pwBPD is different. My ex most likely was what one would call a quiet pwBPD, and what has helped me may not be helpful for you. However, if you find my story is helpful, then awesome. Thank you for reading.
So if your experience is anything like mine, you may find yourself sitting in your car staring out into space dumbfounded after getting an abrupt call from who you thought was your girlfriend. You are shocked because after almost two years she has just broken up with you in the most robotic and unempathetic way possible. You may be feeling empty or devastated or numb. This is totally understandable. What’s hard to understand at this moment is how someone who showered you with so much love could be so cold and cruel to you.
For me, this is where my journey started - sitting in my car staring out into space. Everyone’s experience is different, but I wanted to share the process that I went through to start my recovery. I am by no means through the thicket of a BPD breakup, but I have started to see the light. From one person to another, I want to sincerely say that I’m sorry this is happening to you. You didn’t deserve this, and in time I think you will come to understand it largely had nothing to do with you, your looks, your financial means, your personality, or your job. I now look at this experience like a natural disaster - it just happens. The tornado didn’t hit your house because you were a few pounds overweight - it is so far out of your control it is more akin to an act of god.
Step One: Triage
If you are like me, you had become quite attached to this person. This is by design. What looked like falling in love to you was actually falling for a calculated, constructed persona that mirrored your own. My ex wrote down everything I said on our first date into a notebook. I realized later she used this to construct a persona that I would become hopelessly attached to. Needless to say, it worked. I fell head over heels for this person and thought that I had found my soulmate. I was wrong. I was being idealized and manipulated into attaching to someone who at best has an avoidant attachment style. They put together this persona and play this role, but this is not their true self. They have a cycle of attachment and breakups that will continue throughout their lives until they choose to seek help. Some are aware of their tendencies, and some are strangers to themselves. Either way, the act of creating this persona takes a lot of energy. They have only so much gas in their tank, and once it begins to run low the relationship will hit the rocks.
A person with BPD (pwBPD) sees romantic partners as either all good or all bad. When they decide that you have switched from all good to all bad, this is called splitting. In a moment of clarity, my ex referred to this as “my lens just changed”, like at the eye doctor. In a split second, you move from the soulmate category to the existential threat category in their brain. Even if you get back together with them and move back into an idealization cycle, the clock is ticking on your relationship. You will be devalued and discarded, it is only a matter of time. What will ensue between these moments will most likely be quite an emotional roller coaster.
So when a pwBPD finally discards you, they will treat you like you have zero worth to them (because that’s how they view you). My ex told me that “I believe that every next relationship will be better than this one.” She also said, “I hope one day you and I can both agree that this is the best thing for me.” Ouch. Keep in mind, this is only days after inviting me on a vacation to the beach next summer and sending me romantic good morning text messages. They split because they need you to be out of their lives immediately. They have decided that you are going to abandon them which would destroy them. You are going to knock down their house of cards and you need to disappear post haste. It’s also important to understand that by the time you are finally discarded they are most likely already setting up their next “favorite person”. Online dating is an incredibly fertile hunting ground for pwBPD, and they use it deftly.
So, back to triage. You have just experienced an emotional trauma that can be hard to deal with. I still remember the feeling of sitting in my car staring out the window feeling numb. This is what I call the great “rug pull”. You just found out that your trust, love, and loyalty meant very little to this person, and they will leave you with zero closure. It can feel like a car hitting a wall at 60 miles per hour. With most relationships, you know when things are going badly. To go back to the car analogy, you hear something in the engine that doesn’t sound right or the car breaks down from time to time. When a relationship with a pwBPD goes bad, it goes bad abruptly.
Over the next few weeks, your own brain will be at war with your reality. You will need to find your people and lean on your support system. Family, friends, therapists, and even pets will be crucial for supporting you through these first weeks. Call them up. Talk through your feelings and your confusion. Lean on those people that love you. I had multiple people on both coasts talking to me for the first week at all hours of the day. I can’t thank these people enough now. They were crucial to my recovery. Remember to eat, brush your teeth, and feed the fish. Just being quasi-functional for the first few weeks should be considered a win. Do what you need to do to make it through the first weeks, but there is only one hard and fast rule in this stage: No Contact! Do not initiate any contact whatsoever with your ex. They may reach out to you trying to “be friends” during this stage. Block them if they do. The person who is causing your pain cannot be the source of your comfort. Say that to yourself everyday all day.
Step Two: Acceptance
Your brain has gotten used to being in love or attached to this person. If you have tendencies toward codependency, the feelings you had may have even bordered on an addiction. This is a tough stage to manage. If you are like me, your brain will fight tooth and nail against accepting reality. This is totally understandable as the reality is quite harsh. You were merely an attachment placeholder for this person, and when you had no more use for them you were discarded and replaced immediately. Again, ouch.
The next waypoint on this journey is radical acceptance of the facts. Ironically, the pwBPD will be helping you with your radical acceptance stage with their cruelty, their silence, their heartlessness, or through flaunting their new life on social media. My ex was not overly cruel to me, but it was very important to her that I had all my stuff out of her place and I returned her key to her quickly. Again, you need to cease to exist as fast as possible.
Watch any videos online you need to about radical acceptance. Call up a friend and tell them how unfair all this is. Go out into the woods and yell up into the trees. Write letter after letter to them and burn them (under no circumstances send them). Do whatever you need to do, but you cannot move on to the next step until you can accept these two facts: 1) This person is gone forever, and 2) The person you fell in love with no longer exists. Super harsh, I know, but those are the facts. You will need to find a way to accept them.
Step Three: Agency
Once you begin to accept some of the harsher truths of a breakup with a pwBPD, you are ready to begin to process the trauma through agency. My first act of agency was to begin walking. I processed my feelings through walking around parks and neighborhoods in my town - sometimes up to 20,000 steps a day. Exercise is a great pastime for heartbreak. You get a slight reprieve from your pain, and you get to possibly lose a little weight or feel more in shape. Other really great activities during this stage are journaling, deleting photos, burning any love letters or cards, removing any reminders lying around your house, or blocking the person on social media. If you are having trouble with any of these cathartic “screw them” activities, chances are you are still stuck in step two. If this is you, take a step back, call up some friends, and process the finality of the situation.
Ideally, this agency step has the potential to be a great catalyst for change in your life. However, steer clear of any negative coping strategies like black out drinking, sleeping around, or drugs. It is important to realize that this self-destructive thinking is motivated by the part of you that identified with your ex. If you were in an enmeshed relationship, its very easy for her harsh judgement of you to become your own harsh judgement of yourself. You need to reject this concept. Her actions towards you were aggressive and primitive. You are under attack, and you were abused. Begin to fight back. Fight like hell. The way you do this is through positive agency. Get on a bike and ride. Volunteer at a women’s shelter. Bake a billion cookies and give them out for free. Knit scarves for every homeless vet in your town. I know the pain you feel, and I know how it can twist your thinking. Positive outlets are your way through this dark moment in your life. Cherish them.
Step Four: Education
This stage can be concurrent with any of the stages listed above, but it is no less important. In fact, learning about Borderline Personality Disorder and the many ways it can manifest is essential for your healing. The BPDlovedones subreddit and the Nicola Method website were indispensable for my education about the disorder. I had no idea what BPD even was until I googled “Why does it feel like my ex died”. The next few hours were consumed with a crash course in Cluster B Personality Disorders. I was shocked that each new website was able to describe my relationship and my breakup so accurately. It amazed me to learn that many pwBPD use similar language during splitting and breakups. They talk excessively and have mothers with psychosis. I was dumbfounded to realize that my experience was in no way unique, and that many other people have been fooled and manipulated by pwBPD.
Read it all, and read everything you can. However, there is one big caveat here: find your stopping point. I realized my stopping point was when the heaviness of the situation started affecting my sleep. I had trouble letting it all go in my mind. I felt a strong feeling of compassion for my ex and the harsh emotional world she endures day in and day out. She was abandoned and abused as a child. These feelings for someone who had treated me so harshly were confusing, and I started to feel myself slipping back into the triage phase. So, I just stopped. I closed all the tabs. I stopped reading about other people’s experiences. I had learned all I needed to know and I was ready to move on.
It is important to say that during this education phase you may feel the great White Knight rising up in you. You may feel the great tidal pull towards helping this person who suffers so greatly. Do not fall prey to this thinking. I don’t want to speak for all people with BPD, but I spoke with a psychologist about the tendencies of pwBPD. They rarely seek treatment on their own. They most likely know their interpersonal relationships are messed up. You are not the first person that she will do this to, and you won’t be the last. pwBPD like many people with major problems in their lives (addiction, gambling, etc) don’t seek help until they hit rock bottom. As long as there is a steady supply of people out there willing to enter into this dysfunctional dance with them, they will most likely not seek treatment. It takes the PROLONGED dedication and sacrifice of a parent, a spouse, or a child to get someone into treatment. Unless you are one of the aforementioned, the purpose of educating yourself is to free you from their blame and to walk away with your head held high. Read that last sentence again (or as many times as you need).
Step Five: Introspection
Once you have learned all you care to know about pwBPD, it is time to look inward for answers as well. If your relationship was intense and you had difficulty setting boundaries with or disentangling from the pwBPD, you may have codependent tendencies. This was another harsh reality that I had to accept about myself. I had my own unresolved childhood trauma that made me lose myself and become enmeshed in relationships. This can be problematic in any relationship, but with a pwBPD codependency can cause a tragic whirlpool of events that leaves the codependent heartbroken, confused, and rejected at the end.
Once this realization bubbled to the surface for me, I began to focus my agency on the task of healing some of these wounds and restoring self-love into my life. I created a self-love walking group, read some great posts on reddit, and watched some great videos about codependency. I will post some of what I found in the resources list below. Working with a therapist, I set up appointments to practice EMDR therapy to tackle early childhood trauma. I made therapy goals and a healing road map. I doubled my efforts and redoubled them again.
While all this agency seemed really great at the time, I had another realization that stopped me in my tracks yet again one day. My investigation of codependence was bordering on obsession. I was really motivated to change, but I felt I was doing it for the wrong reasons. I was still feeling the blame and judgement from my ex and accepting their shame as my own shame. I was not being compassionate to my pain; I was being judgmental and harsh towards myself. This realization led me to search for how to finally end the enmeshment and exit this trance of unworthiness.
Step Six: Individuation
One book recommended to me by a friend was the book Inner Engineering by Sadhguru. While I was a bit skeptical going into the book, some of the quotes early in the book kept me reading. I liked the idea that “The only way out is by going in.” I liked the focus on meditation and accessing the joy inherent in the present moment.
While the first chapters are more autobiographical, there is a section in the introduction where Sadhguru explains the essence of his philosophy. For me, this was the game changer. His philosophy all boils down to this one phrase: “I am responsible.” Just reading these words already had an affect on my outlook. He continues, “My responsibility is limitless. If I am willing I can respond to everything. I am 100% responsible for everything I am and everything I am not. For my capacities and my incapacities, for my joys and my miseries. I am the one who determines the nature of my experience in this life and beyond. I am the maker of my life.” Sadhguru is using the word responsible to mean response-able here. What he is saying is that if you are able to look inside yourself, you have limitless power to respond to anything. He is also using the other meaning of responsible here too. You and you alone are responsible for your life.
I began saying this phrase to myself over and over again. I thought it to myself as I lay down to go to sleep and when I woke up in the morning. I did some mindfulness meditation and processed this idea, “I am the one who determines the nature of my experience. I am the maker of my life.” Through this process I realized that the person who had both lifted me up and then dropped me so abruptly no longer had any power in my mind. I have the power to control my thoughts and respond to life events.
Another way that I heard it put is that, “Between stimulus and response is space. In this space is your power.” I began to take control of that space and to tend to my own mind like someone might tend to a garden - pruning and weeding as necessary. If I feel self-damaging thoughts rising, I remember that I am responsible for those thoughts, and I have a choice to think differently. In my journal I began to keep track of this positive thinking. I wrote down achievements and goals, and I began noticing with fresh eyes the wonderful aspects to my self.
The goal during this phase is to shift something called "internal locus of control." Your internal locus of control is your inner philosophy about your interactions with the world. This locus is largely formed in childhood and adverse experiences can cause a child to hold an external locus of control. This is the belief that your life is governed by external forces: luck, fate, circumstance, other people. This can cause many problems, but for me it caused an overdependence on other people for happiness and fulfillment. In relationships, this can cause a codependency and neediness that can be toxic.
What I have found is that shifting your perspective to an internal locus of control takes a dedication not only to controlling the present, but also to revisiting the past traumas that keep you stuck. In therapy, I have learned that these traumas are caused by a lack of agency when they happen. One of my experiences was that I was relentlessly bullied by much older boys when I was younger. In the moment, I responded not by fighting back, but freezing. My fight or flight response in that moment lacked agency and as a result, I developed a more external locus of control. I believed that my life (trauma, success, emotions, etc) happens to me, and that I had limited control over that.
By practicing some inner child meditation and visualizations, I was able to revisit these moments and regain that lost agency. For instance, I revisited one particularly terrifying moment and comforted and coached myself through saying no and setting boundaries with the bullies. This was really helpful in rebalancing my locus of control and taking ownership of my thoughts, my actions, and my goals. This was an intensely liberating realization overall, and I found my recovery from depression, anxiety, and heartbreak began to happen once I began the process of unlocking agency in my past.
Step Seven: Goal-Oriented Therapy
At this point in your recovery you may be feeling stronger and more confident. You may think about your ex only rarely and the No Contact has helped give you the space to heal. One activity that helped me to continue the process of moving forward was goal setting. For someone who had codependency and locus of control issues, goals can be fluid when they should be absolute. If my girlfriend needed to complete x on a given day while I had to complete y, more often than not I would abandon my goal and focus on hers. This is a clear symptom of a codependent relationship and ultimately very unhealthy.
The antidote to this is to begin the process of setting and achieving your own goals. Starting small is a good idea. Write down three goals for a Saturday in your journal and complete them. Set a weekly goal or a monthly goal. As you begin to be more reliable about meeting your goals, more seem to appear out of the woodwork. Maybe new hobbies or friendships appear. Maybe you start to set financial goals and meet them. Maybe your goals become longer term goals. No matter what the goal, the important thing for this stage is this: show up for yourself. You again are limitlessly responsible, and you alone are the maker of your life. Show Up For Yourself. You are worthy of love, and if you don't show up for yourself then no one else will.
Step Eight: Boundaries and Values
After working on being more goal oriented, I began to consider another relationship again. It was pretty evident to me, however, that I should probably only enter into a relationship when I was again stable and recovered from my breakup. I began to think about what I would need to feel that I was out of the woods (or at least well on my way).
My first need was to identify and name my personal values. I realized that these values are the unshakeable foundation of my personality, and they should not be subject to outside forces. When you are codependent and dating someone who has a constantly changing sense of self, you can sometimes unconsciously mirror their tendencies. I found I was unmoored from my own values in this relationship and really lost my sense of self. So, cementing those values was a really important step towards healing. You have to honor what makes you you.
Some of the areas where I defined one or more values were family, my children, friends, my character, work, health, food, alone time, wants, preferences, needs etc. This process is an important one and should take some time. Be very deliberate about each area of your life. I found that taking a day or two to think about each one yielded the best responses.
Secondly, I used these values to generate a list of unshakeable boundaries that I will have moving forwards. For each value, I identified the boundaries I would need to maintain this value while being in a relationship with another person. To give you an example, one value I have is that time with my friends from high school is sacred to me. I set a goal of seeing them at a minimum twice a month - no matter what my relationship status might be. After it was all said and done, I had around forty boundaries that will serve as my terms and conditions for any relationship moving forward. While defining these boundaries was a good first step, boundaries are useless without accountability. This led me to the final step of my process.
Step Nine: Accountability
Boundaries and goal setting are great ways to practice an internal locus of control, but these will only work if you honor them. I see my therapist around once a month. I decided to make the beginning of every session about accountability. Each month I plan to fill out a relationship health worksheet and share that with my therapist. I also will share the progress I've made on my goals in the past month. The aim here is not to have someone else babysit your progress, but to be accountable to yourself. Again, the best thing you can do is to Show Up for Yourself!
So, this is where you’ll find me present day. I am still rebuilding after what felt like a relationship hurricane, but the good news is that you have an opportunity to rebuild your house to be stronger and more resilient than before. You’ll also have a good eye for spotting Cluster B narcissists and pwBPD by their tendencies towards idealization and manipulation.

Pimp rogue’s nuclear-powered bullshit or how a "that guy" ruined my rep with the local pathfinder community. {minally NSFW due to drug, sex and crime refs)

This was one of the few times in my younger years that I wish that I wasn’t so naive. It started with me getting laid off from my school job for the 3rd time due to dumb paperwork reasons and needed a new one for the time being... So just my luck when one of the local dnd Facebook groups had someone offering to pay anyone to run a game for him, his “girls'' and their “friends.”
He was going to pay me in cash about 20USD an hour for one or two sessions a week for about 6 to 8 hours a game. Pathfinder with the basic handbook to start and adding books from there depending on the players, players which we had a very high turnable of, the one player who was consistent enough was the host I will just call the pimp rogue.
He lives on the edge of a very well-off neighborhood leading into the poor, gang-infested half of the city I lived in. The shared living room was full of different anime, video games, comics, sex toys and drug paraphernalia neatly put away on shelves. At first, I thought this was strange but remembering that I’m in California and everyone at the house was of college-age I figured this was normal-ish.
Mr. Rogue was a thin man in his late 20s who dressed and sounded like shaggy from scooby-doo, he owned the house turned boarding room, with a massage parloTraditional medicine shop, or at least that’s how he explained how he knows everyone’s drug habits in the local area.
He was studying at the local community college to improve his current property management skills and hopfully to convert some investors to help him open up a hotel...in the middle of the drug and gang filled area of the city. That plus his addiction to WoW (world of warcraft) and he hasn't had any time to run games for his “girls” or there “friends”
He had me run a test game with some of his top girls, which at the time seemed either not too interested or had other things on their mind, like pot or food. Also, I was rusty at the time and was hoping that I didn't have to be the living rulebook at the time. The three college-aged girls seem to wear very revealing clothing for their work who were “very progressive” about dress code and wear heavy amounts of makeup despite as far as I can tell they were on their day off.
I felt like this was kind of strange but reminded myself that for the 2nd time that I live in California and nothing is normal here.
So I run one of the free mods off of the pathfinder website. Me and Mr. Rogue helped the other three players make characters, a barbarian, a fighter, a bard to the begrudging agreement from his top “assistant” girl.
It was a simple clear out of an old tower for the local lord, the girls seemed to understand what was happening and what to do but needed some reminding of the rules... A lot.
They didn't seem too inquisitive about what was in the tower, just that they wanted to kill the few monsters that were there and get out of there. The rogue went off by himself and looted everything he would find ways to avoid the traps and monsters as the girls would run to whatever the monster were because of the heavy amount of meta gaming and kill them. I tried to throw in descriptions of the ruined halls and destroyed rooms but all I got from Mr. Rogue was “yeah, that's cool but what is in here that looks valuable” and I'll give him a roll for the loot he found.
By the end of the game session and a brief closed talk in another room, I was told that I got the job. I was to run 4 to 6-hour pathfinder sessions once a week at 20USD an hour. He would pay for the pizza, drinks, and even offered his own meds from his “herb side hustle” which I refused, not fully understanding what he really meant.
He also wanted me to find more players for the group seeing as his girls may have to do some long shifts from time to time and would like to get more business for his natural med and massage “hustles.” he said I had that “innocent kid look” and would be better if I asked around.
Asked some friends to help join the game as I looked for more people to join from the local groups. The host asked me to run an urban campaign that didn't go too far from the main location. I had a homebrewed city out in the middle of a stormy tropical isle i was building in my spare time and now a group to try it on.
It was made to be very drop in and drop out but had a story involving the group going from poor outcast to wealthy Respected members of the city's political class. I had months of Content already and Excited that I could finally use them for a game that I was DMing. At least I had be excited as I underestimated how much of a “that guy” the host was as he somehow bypassed most of the contact I had planned for the group. I'm not sure if he was doing this on purpose or because he wasn't at the table for large chunks of it as he would pop in after taking care of some business around the large house/apartment. Here are some notable examples of what he did to personally ruin or outright bypass everything I've planned for the game.
The inheritance...wasted
When the party first arrived at the tropical city the first thing I wanted to do is give them a proper base as the starting tavern I had them start at “the rusty floater” which was more of a flophouse than a proper inn. Some of the other players have said they had some noble background and wanted to check in on them.
The hook was that they went to the family manor to see it in ruins and an old butler who had a small shack near the front gate of the manor would tell the party how the noble paladin and wizard’s family lost their home to less than noble means. The party can begin by getting the key to the manor to find that the documents have been faked and a quest to get the manor back from the evil rival noble family.
What happened was that as most of the party was looking at the ruined manor, Mr. rogue spotted the old butler coming out of his shack and looking at the party, spotting the paladin's seal on his back. That's when the pump rogue told me “I'm going to sneak up to the creepy old man and slit his neck open.”
Me: wait what?
Pump rogue: it's a creepy man waiting in the shadows, I know what he wants and I'm not letting him hurt anyone in the party!!!
So he sneaks up and crits the old man, killing him Instantly before any of the party members' characters could take note of him. He then looted the old man’s shack where the butler's journal, key, and some papers I had made into handouts that were meant for the group. I gave them to the rogue who at the very least could pass them onto the rest of the group after looking them over. He asked if there was some kind of hidden code in the documents that he wasn't seeing and asked to do some skill checks which I Told him did not apply here and then burned the documents in the fireplace as well as set fire to the shack.
“If I don't deserve whatever code in the docs and no one else has as high skills as me might as well destroy what other assassin codes and orders he had,” he said to me as he throws out the handouts only he saw and got the party back a tavern to plan to guard a beekeepers farm. I tried to salvage it by having a 2nd servant of the old family be in the same tavern and ID the nobles of the group to share the same info I tried to give them beforehand.
The rogue who said beforehand he was “looking for anyone watching them” picks up on the old woman and decides to split from the group to talk to her. Opening up by giving her some wine from his personal stack.
The old woman: thank you kindly, is that man…
Rogue: please drink first then we can talk
Me as an old woman: what
Rogue: I offered you a drink and in halfling costumes, it is an insult to talk without drinking first
One diplomacy check later the old woman is shamed into drinking the wine
Old woman: o this is great, now is that young man…
Rogue: she has to man a Con save or take stat damage.
The Rogue used his earnings from earlier to buy poison that would weaken normal monsters but would outright kill normal non-player characters like a level one commoner, so she fails her save and outright dies from Constitution damage. As the rogue props up the body of the “spy” before rejoining the party with the wizard and paladin glaring at the rogue who defended himself by saying out of game “they were clearly assassins and spies for some kind of cult, that's how I would DM it anyway”
It didn't help that later that session as the rest of the party was gambling and fighting in the rusty floater basement fight club, the rogue sneaks into the manor the (former) future base of the party, looted the different rooms like the training room, the library or the lab, interrupting my description of the rooms to “speed up the looting of the assassin lair” and then set the whole place on fire.
Yes, I did talk to him after and he continues to say that he knows it was the assassin’s but that I gave it my best try at hiding the fact and took his money.
The quickness gang war ive ever seen
The next big hook was a gang war between two rival gangs and the city watch trying hard to keep the peace, the party had done a number of smaller jobs and one of the new players a dwarf fighter, desired to have his big character arc be rejoining with his brother who was the Captain of the watch.
The plan was to slowly dig up info on the two gangs by intrigue and combat missions ending with a big raid on at least one of the bases with the surviving base becoming one of the big bad for the campaign.
The pimp rogue who was the unofficial leader desired to mail the captain a drawing of his ass saying that “we would never work with piggies” and forge the dwarfs signature on the latter burning that players plot arc for “his own good”
They did do a great job of plotting out and following a number of members of the gangs to find the HQ of the gangs. The pimp rogue then got one of his girls playing a bard to use a charm to get into the base and a 2nd charm spell to get the leader to lead a charge of the other gang's base. He then called the watch who had their top NPCs come to join in on the raid of the base in the hopes that they get the reputation needed for the next step of the campaign but then got Blind sided when the pimp rogue ordered the girls to “as soon as we are deep enough we set the building on fire and lock everyone inside officers and master criminals alike.”
Everyone fled, excluding the dwarf fighter who was trying to RP at least his honor-bound bond to his brother and tried to warn his brother of the trap. He died with his brother and the player quit outright.
The pimp rogue was kind of proud that he not only made the city safer from crime but completely decapitated the leadership of the watch as “a good pig is a dead pig” which was a bit of a shock for me as I never encounter someone who had a deep hate for law enforcement as this was years before the BLM movement got started.
Finally, the thing that derailed the whole thing: the exposition for the deep dwarves
It was after the party completed at least one of the major quests breaking up a demon cult operating out of a cursed item shop. They were able to loot a large amount of gold and the pimp rogue had taken a few levels of a cleric by burning some demon summoning scrolls, so seeing as 2 of the three major quests got killed horribly by the holy pimp rogue I decided to start stage 2 early.
The plan was that after getting a rep for being great, noble, and reliable problem solvers they will be sought out by a gnome scholar who was trying to set up an exposition to the local ruin to look into an extinct race of dwarfs that lived so far down that the light of day never touches them. He's been trying to find funding outside his homeland who had some fascistic religious types take control of it by a military coup.
The idea was simple, they go to each of the guilds and trade unions to ask for assistance in supplying the exposition with men, gear, and supplies to make it to the dig site to begin the dungeon diving as a different actively when not running the holdings that would come from the money and fame generated from completing the dig.
First, they would have to complete a quest with the tropical traders who were having dire fruit bats moving onto the three growing islands with druids protesting the farmers trying to make a living off of the fruit and crops there.
Second, they were to help the craftsman make their surveying and digging tools if they found out why one of their trade settlements was being weirdly quiet and the inspectors they sent hadn't shown up. Turning out to be that a Lovecraftian cult moved in, killed off or converted the leadership to suvre the elder ones then started making a pair of lens that would be used to bring dark beings into the world.
Three but finally was the labor union that wanted the party to clear a rock quarry that had raptors move into it to make a nest, but in reality, the raptors were attracted by the lizardfolk and naga who didn't take kindly to the quarry company coming in and destroying there temple for building materials killed everyone in there sleep and now trying to place a dark curse onto the city. The runners who were sent up there to see what the delay was and only saw the raptors and mutilated bodies and called that in.
I figured that this would be a great chance for some morally gray RP, to get the party as a whole more XP seeing that they were flying through most of the planned contact and story. It also could have gotten the party the magical upgrades I was trying to give them as they barley exploited there surrounding except for the rogue and a few of the vets who would lose out on the checks to the min/max rogue or to the votes on who gets the loot as his girls would outnumber the client players every time. He would then sell off the magic items seeing as he can't use them or even rent them out to the other players who saw it as the exploitative bull that it was.
So guess what happened….guess what the divine pimp rogue did.
Pimp rogue: hell no, deal with your own F***ing bullS*** you commie parasites.
The Rogue didn't want to do any favors with any of the guilds or unions nor did he want to pay them for the use of any of their man, equipment, or goods despite them controlling nearly 90% of each of their respective markets. So he put it to a vote to just do the bare minimum seem like a leader to the new players and win 5-3, the three no’s being the paladin who was just there to see how this trainwreck goes. And two new guys who I had tied there introductions to the guild and union quests respectively who than left after this seston for how blindsided of a derailment this was for there backstories and saw that this wasn't going to be a Role Play heavy game as they fought it was going to be.
The pimp rogue got the cheapest gear, gathered the poor, crippled and elderly, demanded that the people coming on the trip do the grocery shopping as a buy-in, which turns out by the luck of the die mostly spoiled meats and donated food by the evil gnome cult I would have following them and did the medieval equivalent of wire fraud in the name of the professor who he had tricked into being his legal posy for anything else he thought we needed. On the day of the departer, He and his girls broke into each of the guilds and unions to steal their lagtors and then set fire to the record rooms with the leaders inside for good measure.
So they were off 3 to 4 months ahead of schedule and now having to figure out what statue to put the city in when they return or if they return as most of the hands-on leadership is dead, the economy had been halted, the underground had a massive power vacuum to fill. The city folk were at risk of starving as food would have to be imported from the mainland months away. The worst of it is that two cults of pure evil were about to attack the two.
At this point as well paid as I was for this, it was getting onto my nerves, I was having to plan more on the fly, it was affecting my hunt for a more effective job, it was affecting my sleep and my school work to the point I was having frequent arguments with my folks. It came to a head session later.
Its been about a week in-game since they took off for the dig site and were about a few hours away from making it to the site when I desired to mix up the encounters by having a small bandit fort set up in the middle road they been using and need to pay them or take a long way around. So I set it up either for them to one fight the fort, talk them into getting them thought, pay or go the long way.
They choose to find the small form of 500 or so untrained thieves, 30 in the form and the rest slowly trying to sneak behind them with the two leaders they had at least 100 saraband guards with basic training and at least and at least 5 to 7 (the paladin friend, a guy new to the area and dnd, the pimp rogues, and at least two to four of the rogue's min/max combat monster girls) party members of about 3rd or 4th level. The party was interested in some of the newer books of pathfinder. So decided to test out the mass combat rules and thought that everyone would enjoy leading the guards into battle….
That's not what happened
Turns out being interested does not mean reading the rules, even if you print them out for them. The pimp rogue decided the best plan was to trick the workers into fleeing into the ambush with some of the guards to sell the bluff.
He told the paladin character that he had his back to take the fort to plan a counter defense which he had the spell power, creativity, and gold to make taking the fort easy. This was a lie, hoping that it would be a good enough diversion. He and his girls fled for their lives as "you said that fleeing may be an option at any time" which I did say but for more obvious reasons like rolling stone traps, or the sewer monster they never cleared because of the pimp rogue "neat freak" character trait.
So the easy mass combat encounter became a bloodbath as the noob and paladin blindly charged the fort with no support as most of the guards being disorganized, to say the least, made an easy fight turned into a bloodbath. The paladin and noob were shot down by tower archers as the leak of real leadership made the guards' squid rolls useless as they were easily overwhelmed despite the better training and gear.
The rest of the party made it to the dig site alone, and after auto rolling for the rest of the battle more than 70% of the caravan was wiped out with only a handful of carts left with nearly all of the key NPCs excluding the professor and a kid that one of the former players befriended. on the trail had been killed. As the decimated caravan rolled in the pimp rogue asked me “so how much gold did I save getting all the guard and trail guides killed” I don't think I ever found out if this was his plan the whole time or I didn't explain the encounter right. I know that I wanted to hurt this guy (in-game) for all the stress of his nuclear-powered sananagins.
So for the next few sessions, the rogue and the girls (at this point I was running out of gaming groups to pull players from) had them digging up the entrance hall to the dungeon as one of the massive skips in content left me no time to design the dungeon and that I wanted to unleashed the gate guards on them. The gate guards were too massive black marble statues made by the deep dwarfs ritual blood rites to drive back anyone who dares try to unlock the door to the elevators. The gate guards acted as high leveled necromancers that would cause the excavators to go mad then kill each other or themselves by sabotaging the digging in some way. As the dead mounted the necro magic would kick in to turn the dead bodies of the people and animals in the area into undead monsters and horrors to defend the gate.
I may have played my hand too early, for when they were clearing room for what was happening in the area I rolled on the random encounter pool to get a couple of trapdoor spiders. The spiders grasped the rogue into their hole, and started to well on the halfling rogue and nearly killed him. His girls were able to break into the hole and kill the spiders before they can finish off the rogue. So I might have fugled the undead creation rules a bit and ask they were leaving from the cave rogue in the back, the spiders with newfound undead vigor, jumped the rogue and rolled a nat 1 on both of their surprise attacks. The rogue who I forgot was a cleric up to this point used “turn undead” and forced the spiders as far back into their hole as possible and the 5 of them set the webs on fire. This quads him in that something was off, did a scan for magic, and found the status 20 feet below the ground. I got to say that at this point, it got interesting again if not fun as it was full on me vs. him instand me running for the party. I know that sounded bad but the amount of stress I was under at the time and frankly I was mentally and emotionally done at this point 20 dollars an hour be damned.
I tried to have the statues, whisper dreams of unionization, and coffee breaks. He and the girls scouted out one of the unions, took the leaders out of range of the statues for a hunting party to take about better pay, and murdered them in their sleep, and burned the bodies. Tried to start heated racial tensions in the caves with charm spells, rogue makes an example of a few of them by burning them alive saying he won't tolerate bigots and reorganizing the teams to be least racially diverse. Had a few cave-ins and accidents seeing it's the best way to make bodies. He and his girls wound the risks to saving them and if he cannot he found a way to get to the cave, fill it with oil, set it on fire, and reseal it to be a make-shift cremation oven complete with smoke coming out of holes on the surface. I even had a rebellion do to all the nightmarish acts of cruelty and wanted better treatment or they all walk, the rogue and his girls hit everyone with sleep spell seeing as there were about 50 or less of them and all were low-level common folk excluding the professor who was fearful of his life and tortured a few time on hints that he may be planning something. He and his magical girls reformed the walls and defenses set up earlier to keep people in as well as keep critters out and murdered more by fire to make it clear who was in charge.
Finally, the day came where they broke the seal to the door after a week of death and torment. He was proud of himself and was making a speech to the workers with no spirit left or even will to live, some figuring that they’ll be killed after or made into food seeing as no one was sure were the fresh food was coming from seeing as all hunting and fishing stopped long ago and this point figured canimalism was at play (it was some druid spell I forgot the name of but the pimp rogue didn't tell the workers that) and were just waiting for the end with there follow workers which had been widaled down to 20 or so. (if your wondering there were about five to seven hundred of them to start)
This is when I sounded in the dead that the pimp rogue missed, you see in the digs they were using birds to see if enough air in the shafts, tropical vermin moved in looking for food and a shelter. Even bigger hunts like ferrets to control the vermin problem. The only thing they checked for is if the horses and other pack mules were dying so that they can be burned as well as the other bodies.
So you should have seen their surprise when packs of shadow rats, swarms of undead birds, and dog-sized ferrets their bodies fused together. As some of them had given resistance to divine magic it made it harder for the pimp rogue to just use his holy pimp slap on them. It was a long and heavy battle as they were attacked by air and ground both under and above. The birds didn't stand a chance as the mass casting of turn undead made them flee wildly but still was enough of a distraction to have the meat ferrets sneak attack from underground and the shadow rats turned control to move around the tank in front liners and get to the squishes of the pimp’s squid of casters. I don't remember much of that battle, just that I nearly got two of the four girls downed and the rogue had to spend the last of his healing bursts to get everyone on their feet again.
The main boss was a flesh golem as when the fighting started some of the workers hide in some of the utility tunnels which collapsed during the fighting killing all of them. Giving the black statues the bodies need to make one. I figured this was it, a TPK, there wasn't anything I thought they can do as the big mass of hateful flush dig its way out and was going up one of the two entryways to the dig site. That is until the rogue called on the earth bender. Now originally I wanted to have it be the main handbook. As the game went on and on, one of the girls who seemed more interested in the game than the others would talk to me after games about the rules and the more complex classes. She even kept in contact with me on Facebook to talk about other nerd or anime topics. One of the classes she really wanted to multiclass into was the Elementalist, I decided to allow it seeing as out of all of the players she seems to have a spine and willing to give herself real agency even if it was just to be better at support casting.
So she used her earthbending to collapse the entry on top of the flush monsters face than kept the monster in place so that the rest of the party ganged up on the monsters head and beat it into a bloody pulp as I failed to save after save to get out of the mud and dirt it was trapped in.
The rogue and earthbending bard high fived as they finally entered the dungeon that I barely designed and at this point know would just be stumped on by the rogue’s BS, but I had to try. Seeing as I had an idea for what he would face with the cult chased up with them and find witnesses in the remaining workers still locked up at the camp that would give them the blackmail needed to turn the city august them. As part of the cultists turned to bring the survivors back to the city and the rest stayed to wait for the party to come back.
A week passed and I came in with all my gaming gear to see that another DM was in my place. The rogue felt like I was burning out and decided to have an old friend come in to replace me. He at least gave me money for the last game and for the game I was going to run. I played for the first game, the new DM seems to have taken my dungeon idea and expanded it and seems to be about to counter the rogue’s BS better than I ever can. I left the group and never went back.
The epilogue
Months later I ran into the new dm trying to join a game as it seems like I had some kind of rep hanging over my head, keeping me from joining. So it was refreshing to be about to join a game again. I asked how the old game went and if he made any money from it, he seemed confused as I told him that I was being paid to run games for him as well as the shenanigans he pulled on me.
He figured as long as he had known him the pimp rogue had been a huge “that guy” and min/maxer. He would have him take “breaks” as he would found ways to skip major encounters and dungeons.
I asked “how did you solve that problem?
The New DM: “o he got too busy with his drug and pimping side gigs”
ME: WAIT WHAT?!
The new DM: I thought he told you, I mean it was pretty obeasue.
Turns out he was trying to get a dnd based prostitution thing going on where nerdy clients would play with his hottest girls and maybe return for some “one on one” sessions. He soon found out his normal clients weren't that nerdy and drugs don't move. He also ground addicted to the world of warcraft and it barely gave the pimp rogue time to plan.
That was when I came in, I had the most innocent person he had even made and thought he could use me to get in more nerdy types and get them onto the whole RPG/SEx/drug thing he had planned. So the players that I attracted to the table he turned to offer them some private sessions with the girls for how poorly the game went. They would decline and stop coming over, giving me weird looks and excuses as to why they no longer wanted to be in the game anymore. Turns out my friends and colleagues assumed I was this guy’s partner in crime at best or at least one of his underlings and slowly ghosted me.
So that's how I updated my expectations and was a black sheep for my local gaming groups for a number of years.
TL;DR got hired to run games for a massive "that guy" and a real pimp and drug dealer was trying to expand his client base to the local nerd community.
Got kicked after trying to TPK the party with undead critters.
Edit1: for the people wondering how this "over the top" story is real as "any same man could see this come" I'm autistic and miss social signals that normal people would pick up on. It did help that my mother who works with law enforcement and courts shelter me to the point that my idea of a pimp was the stereotype 50s to 60s black guy in a big fur coat and hat simular to the boondocks and never to wear red or blue unless I wanted to be gutted by "the gangster folk"
Starting to understand that my mother has some underlings descrmaion problems

Something to keep your mind off the red day...

This research was offered for $2k guaranteeing that 2 of the 6 stocks would reach $10 in a year or it was free. I didn't pay for it, rather just tried to figure out the companies from the transcript below. MMED is one of the 6 for sure. See if you can figure them out. I believe this was offered in Sept so the current prices are obviously off. Have fun!

What I’m about to tell you may sound like science fiction...
Yet what’s contained in this eyedropper...
Is so powerful...
The $8 TRILLION healthcare industry is on fire.
A single dose of what I’m holding... could change everything we know about the human brain.
Dr Robin Carhart-Harris, head of psychedelic research at Imperial College London, said...
What it was derived from... is truly miraculous.
Not quite plant...
Not quite living organism...
A rare hybrid species I’ll tell you more about later on.
But from this hybrid species, scientists have discovered a chemical compound... one that’s able to be grown in labs... 100% naturally, without interfering with nature.
The billionaires backing this research... like Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary... and PayPal’s Peter Thiel... are CONVINCED it’s going to be one of the greatest investments of their career.
To the doctors in the lab... it must seem like the next step of human evolution!
I call it “Living Medicine” because the atoms in this substance are truly ALIVE and could be capable of unimaginable regenerative properties.
And if the early findings are correct...
Living Medicine could be as transformative to our society as penicillin, which single-handedly fixed many serious health conditions.
That was making history THEN... What you’re looking at is making history NOW... It’s about to smash every record and scientific development we’ve seen.
Come with me now... inside the human brain.
All of our research shows... our brain loses its strength... its elasticity... That means memory... motor functions... they get worse as we age. You may have noticed this yourself with older friends or family.
Now watch... In time, it may be possible to stimulate growth for those brain cells and rebuild...
In time, it may be possible to stimulate growth for those brain cells and rebuild... perhaps even stronger than before.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg...
Imagine depression gone... forever.
Clinical trials conducted by NYU and Johns Hopkins found it helped cancer patients cure their depression within a single dose.
More research shows it could help completely reverse the battle-induced PTSD for our soldiers.
80% of smokers quit after one single dose! Now researchers testing it on alcoholism.
Another study by 60 Minutes found it’s nonaddictive.
I want to be clear, I’m NOT talking about marijuana or CBD right now. What is in this eyedropper is NOT marijuana or CBD.
Rather, it is a one-of-a-kind substance called “psilocybin.”
This is found ONLY in the unique hybrid species I’m going to show you.
And while this is still in trial research periods, I believe this Living Medicine is at the forefront of EVERYTHING that’s going to accelerate brain science in the next 10 years. I’m absolutely certain of it.
And I’m not the only one who thinks this!
Peter Thiel, founder of PayPal... Palantir... and Founders Fund. One of Forbes’ 1,000 RICHEST men on the planet.
He’s completely backing this industry and one of its leading companies.
And he knows people are going to call him crazy... He recently said...
This opportunity is the most hidden breakthrough I’ve ever seen.
With the track record Peter Thiel has... wouldn’t you want to get in alongside him in this new industry?
Then there’s Christian Angermayer... the hedge fund LEGEND with $365 million in assets. He’s getting in with his buddy Peter Thiel.
Same with hedge guru Michael Novogratz and his $250 MILLION fund!
He’s also a ground-floor investor.
You know who else is getting in? Kevin O’Leary from Shark Tank.
He’s betting big on Living Medicine as well – recently getting in on a $6 MILLION round of funding.
All of this activity among famous billionaires has alerted the attention of investigative reporters.
I’ve known about this alongside these billionaires for years.
I’ve been preparing for this EXACT moment.
When the companies finally see promise to emerge from the trial stage... and prepare for the moment that all of what I’m about to tell you goes mainstream.
Until now, they’ve seen explosive growth... but they’ve been too small for me to recommend to 150,000 Oxford Club Members.
But now, Living Medicine is like a giant awakening from slumber.
The market is projected to grow at an annual rate of 16.3% over the next eight years to reach $6.85 billion by 2027, according to Data Bridge Market Research.
We’re talking massive growth over time!
And while a lot of these stocks are still in their earliest and most volatile phase...
The gains can be absolutely breathtaking when you find the one.
As with any stocks in a new sector, there are those that won’t make it and will end up in the dustbin of history. But the stocks that DO MAKE it have massive upside potential.
Just look what’s been happening to the BEST Living Medicine Stocks we pulled to show you from the market.
Captiva Verde... this company was $0.20 coming out of the Corona Crash in April...
And still, even the WORST crash in financial history couldn’t keep this stock down...
Yet not a shred of media coverage. That’s how hidden from the outside this is, just like Peter Thiel said...
Imagine once it goes mainstream.
As the sector grows at that double-digit rate I mentioned to you before...
We could continue to see opportunities for incredible gains!
Sure, some of these stocks aren’t going to make it – this is a “swing for the fences”-type investment.
So I do NOT recommend you invest more than you can lose.
But when you get it right on Living Medicine stocks... the gains can be more than enough to make up for any setbacks.
Look at a stock like Revive Therapeutics.
This stock was a PENNY in December 2019.
A penny!
Meaning you don’t have to invest much and risk it – a little capital goes a LONG WAY with these.
On May 26, 2020, Revive opened at a high of $0.27. A 2,600% gain in six months.
📷
One more, just because I’m excited for you...
And I’m thrilled I finally get to put this in the hands of our Members...
This is going to be an extraordinary example... and I can’t promise these kind of results.
But this is the kind of grand slam I’m hoping to find for you!
And it also shows you the power of these stocks... and how a small investment can change your life forever...
For $1,500, you could have bought 100,000 shares of the stock.
And that $1,500 flyer...
Would have turned into a MASSIVE payday as the stock moved closer to $0.99.
Now, would you have to be lucky? You bet. And have exceptional timing? Of course.
Stocks like Ehave are rare.
And other penny stocks drop to zero.
BUT...
This is the power of investing in a brand-new market like Living Medicine.
And this is why I want everyone to know about it NOW, when it’s in the beginning stages and the profit potential is the BIGGEST.
When you can put in $500 or $1,000... and see life-changing results. And not risk a lot of capital if a stock doesn’t work out.
Up until now, I’ve been anxiously waiting because these Living Medicine stocks were too small for our hundreds of thousands of Members to get into.
When they were just a penny I couldn’t do it. These companies weren’t even off the ground yet. The risk would have been too great.
And while small caps can still be volatile... the upside potential here is too good to pass up.
Because make no mistake... we are now at a tipping point, which is why your timing couldn’t be better.
Living Medicine therapies could go completely mainstream as soon as 2021 according to two independent sources.
And the six stocks I’ve found... all of which specialize in this... sell for $2 a share on average.
Then again, it’s often been said that neuroscience is in its infancy.
We know more about the moons of Jupiter than our own brain!
That’s all about to change in the next few months... when these six tiny companies take the $8 TRILLION medical world by storm.
Only the true ground-floor guys know about this.
The REAL silicon valley power players like Peter Thiel.
The REAL shark tank investors like Kevin O’Leary.
I want you to get in now... when a small grubstake in Living Medicine... over time... could be one of the greatest investments you EVER make.
I’ve put together a special report on the BEST companies in the world creating this Living Medicine.
There are only six I would touch if I were you.
And they’re still at the absolute cheapest – they’re all $2 or less on average. Some are selling for just $0.20!
I predict these stocks will soon be trading for $10 or higher!
These six companies have the most sizable advantage from my analysis. And they have the lion’s share of this discovery and this market in their grasp.
Imagine the gains you could be sitting on all because you knew about this ONLY when the smart money billionaires knew about it.
I am going to show you how to claim the Living Medicine report that reveals ALL the companies DURING this presentation.
So if you click out and leave, you’ll get nothing.
Your profit opportunity will likely go to someone else.
But if we move quickly... I think we can play this situation just as we’ve done before with NEW and EXCITING investment trends.
My early recommendations from another service gave my readers the chance to TRIPLE their money in six months on Canopy Growth – one of the biggest names in the biz...
And DOUBLE their money on Aphria Growth in four months’ time.
Those successes were a big part of the lead-up to launching our research today... and having something at The Oxford Club completely dedicated to blazing new trails and investing in new trends.
But since 2017, as you may know, marijuana has gone into a steep bear market. The marijuana index as a whole is down almost 69%!
As a result, our track record is negative, and our average position is down 9.9%.
I hate losing money, but that is the nature of the markets sometimes. But in my view, when something goes against you, you don’t just keep following it downward.
Marijuana’s fall was a valuable lesson.
It reminded us not to risk more than you can afford to lose.
And when you have big gains on the table, like we did, take some of them!
Let the rest ride and play with house money if you want!
It also taught us that it always pays to get in at the beginning, not after everyone else is already talking about an opportunity.
BUT... something good also came out of these losses...
They’ve allowed me to build an even BETTER system for picking stocks than before.
I just closed out another MASSIVE 2,710% partial gain on Sea Ltd. in August of 2020! From a position we held for just four months!!
My system is BETTER than ever, and it’s led us straight to this new market.
Where the revenues are trending upward.
Where EVERYTHING is trending upward!
And this new market is one where the billionaires are more excited than ever!
And prices will never be cheaper. You can get in with a Shark Tank investor like Kevin O’Leary... for pennies!
That’s why I’m telling you about Living Medicine today.
It’s the next no-brainer trend...
And sources are predicting that by 2021 it could be in treatment and therapy centers, moving out of the clinical trials we’re in now.
And by 2027, it could be a $6.8 BILLION industry.
We’re talking billions...
Yet these companies barely measure in the millions!
This is why I feel that NOW is the time to get into these stocks – or you’ll regret it forever.
This is the breakthrough moment for investors, which is why the billionaires are going all-in.
For the past two years, I’ve been waiting for this trend to hit the mainstream.
Waiting to replicate these kinds of results yet again in order to lift our track record to FAR outperform anything we’ve done in the past!
I’m hot on the heels of Shark Tank investors and other famous investors... yet as far as I know, I’m the ONLY person who knows about these six stocks!
As for the profit potential...
You could be looking at the chance to turn a couple hundred bucks into major money!
For Starters, on Average ALL OF MY Stocks Are Still Under $2
For starters...
The stocks in my Living Medicine report...
Are selling for an average of LESS than two bucks.
· One is just $0.10.
· Another is $0.20.
· Another is $0.43.
Meaning they’re tiny, and the biggest gains are ahead of them!
Now, there is always risk to investing, and small stocks like this can often be even more volatile. We never recommend you bet the farm on these trades.
But when you get it right on these... you don’t have to. I showed you how $1,000 in a Living Medicine stock like Ehave turned into nearly six figures.
That’s why I actually recommend sprinkling just a little into each stock. That way you ensure yourself the best chance at success without putting down too much!
And a little bit goes a long way when my six stocks are priced between just a few cents and just a few bucks...
📷
With small stocks like these, we expect some losers along the way.
But here’s the thing...
If our best-case scenario plays out...
And we find that play that makes you 1,000% on your money...
It will NOT matter if you struck out once or twice along the way, or even if the losers are more frequent than the winners. All it takes is one big winner when you get in on these trends before everyone else.
The billionaires backing Living Medicine know it... That’s why they’ve gotten in now.
The FDA knows it... That’s why they gave this treatment a breakthrough therapy designation to expedite the development and review of this treatment..
NOW is the time to get in...
I’ve put together a package that shows you exactly what these six stocks are, and I’ve outlined their massive growth potential and profitability.
And I’ll reveal something extra to you, too...
I’ll show you how to become what’s called a "round lot" investor before these companies grow bigger and bigger.
Round lot investors are the highest status of investor.
And I’ll show you how you could accumulate hundreds or THOUSANDS of shares for just a few bucks and become one.
My report is going to walk you through everything. And you can open it on your phone, iPad, computer... whatever you want.
I will show you how to get my report on the six Living Medicine stocks and more in a moment, but first...
Let me finally tell you what this revolutionary discovery is made of.
Because Living Medicine treatment is like nothing else on Earth...
It’s funny how the world’s greatest medical breakthroughs can hide in plain sight!
But it’s truly phenomenal... no other species of plant has this chemical in it.
Literally NOTHING.
And what’s truly remarkable about this species... is that it’s not quite plant... not quite animal. It’s a rare combination hybrid.
Which may be why it’s been holding these secrets right under our noses!
The good news is... scientists have found a way to grow living medicine rapidly in a lab, so there’s no need to wait for nature to produce this miracle substance – that’s a benefit not even marijuana can boast!
And you can decide how to take it.
In a powder, packed into a small capsule, sometimes only 475 micrograms.
You can dissolve the powder into tea or liquid if you don’t prefer to swallow something – which plenty of people do.
Or you can just drop a little eyedropper under your tongue.
A cancer patient revealed to one Colorado news outlet that vials as small as this size contain more than a YEAR’S supply to medicate pain.
A small powder or liquid.
That’s it.
That’s all it takes for Living Medicine to go to work on your body and potentially help treat you within a single dose. And that’s confirmed by CNN as they interviewed doctors at NYU.
But here’s what’s TRULY revolutionary.
It could help rewire and stimulate growth in parts of your brain.
You probably know that, as we age, we become forgetful. We can’t possibly remember every nugget of information.
Basically our brains lose a couple of horsepower with each passing year.
Living Medicine could help reverse that.
Think of your brain like this... before and after Living Medicine...
One of these images looks like it has a few pathways...
The other looks like a neural superhighway.
Studies on this are still in their infancy... but neuroscience itself is in its infancy!
It is said we know more about our solar system... than what is inside our own skull.
But Living Medicine is the tip of the sword when it comes to neuroscience advancement.
This could be the ANSWER neuroscientists have been looking for. How to re-awaken those long-lost parts of the brain!
This potential of stimulating growth of brain cells is why everyone is simply astounded by Living Medicine.
Now let me tell you a little bit about the chemistry behind it.
According to the DPA, the Drug Policy Alliance...
The main active ingredient in Living Medicine.... psilocybin...
“Is not considered to be addictive, nor does it cause compulsive use.”
Johns Hopkins University determined the same thing, citing on its website...
“Research shows that the drug has low potential for abuse and dependence.”
Unlike narcotics...
Or pharmaceutical pills that become addictive...
Or even the folks who enjoy marijuana a little too much...
That’s NOT the case with this Living Medicine.
It really can offer the best possible treatment with the fewest possible side effects.
Think of those affected by Alzheimer’s, PTSD, depression and the countless brain disorders out there. The number is in the hundreds of millions according to the World Health Organization.
Hundreds of millions... that’s a lot of people this could help, right?
So let me give you a glimmer of the profit potential here...
Because I know I just explained a LOT of science and numbers here...
Let’s take a look at a marijuana pharmaceutical stock that made a similar treatment, but only for people suffering from two rare forms of seizures or epilepsy.
Only about 3 1/2 million folks have epilepsy here in the states. That is a fraction of the patient base that Living Medicine could help.
Now, this was also the FDA’s FIRST-EVER drug derived from cannabidiol.
So, even though it was a much smaller market, this treatment was a TRUE ground-floor opportunity, just like Living Medicine. It was a breakthrough! Just like Living Medicine.
This is not one I recommended. At its low, this stock went from $8 and change... to peaks of more than $124 over time.
A 1,450% gain.
14X gains!
And consider, this company’s claim to fame is making a product for just 3 1/2 million people...
Now consider...
If Living Medicine’s research continues to show positive results, someday it could treat 300 million people worldwide with depression.
And here in the States...
· 5.2 million Americans with PTSD
· 5 million people with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
· 38 million smokers.
· 8.1 million alcoholics.
I think 14x gains like GW Pharmaceuticals could be small potatoes.
Remember, that stock was $8.
And its treatment was for a FRACTION of that patient base.
The stocks I’m going to send you in my Living Medicine report are on average $2 per share.
If any one of these six companies follows the same trajectory as GW Pharmaceuticals... we could snag one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for ourselves!
And that rare and extraordinary chance is WORTH taking! That’s why the billionaires are plowing their money into it.
And it’s why Fortune magazine recently published an article begging the question, “Is this Silicon Valley’s next big bet?”
I’m telling you, it is!
This is an incredible time to get in on the ground floor.
When the billionaires like Peter Thiel and his buddies are moving in.
THE BILLIONAIRES ARE MOVING IN
Remember, Peter Thiel was in early on Facebook, SpaceX, Airbnb and Lyft.
He’s worth more than $2.3 billion because he knows how to spot a new market.
And he’s one of the first people moving in on Living Medicine.
Or how about this... do you ever watch Shark Tank or know about it?
Mr. Wonderful, millionaire Kevin O Leary, is moving in on this.
And you know how tough he is to get to invest on the show! One of the – if not THE – TOUGHEST people to convince.
And yet, he is going all-in according to the reports.
In fact, he’s behind one of the six companies I’m going to tell you about today.
So don’t get up from your chair or click out of this video – you’re literally going to get the details Mr. Wonderful invested $6.2 million to find out!
He’s not the only one...
Tim Ferriss, bestselling author and entrepreneur and worth a whopping $110 million, is also getting in on this trend.
Meanwhile, every scientist and doctor in the lab is utterly fascinated by it.
In fact, as researchers dug deeper and deeper into the origins of Living Medicine...
They actually found ancient medical texts referencing it...
They found it’s quietly been used by cultures for hundreds of years!
Throughout History Cultures Have Used This Living Medicine... in More Archaic Ways
Now... many of the world’s best medicines were actually used throughout history before they were fully understood by scientists.
Take aspirin...
It comes from the Willow plant.
And its first documented use dates back to the ancient Egyptians as an anti-inflammatory and pain reliever.
The Greeks used it too.
Hippocrates, of the Hippocractic oath fame, used Willow tea to ease the pain of childbirth.
But it wasn’t until 1897, when German chemist Felix Hoffmann discovered the actual compound for aspirin, that it took off as a modern medicine.
Today, 40,000 tons of aspirin are produced annually... generating hundreds of millions in profits every year.
Living Medicine is likely to have a similar story because it’s a natural and effective medicine.
And its use also dates back to ancient peoples.
Celtic Druids called it the “Flesh of the Gods” because of its mental-boosting attributes.
Egyptians reserved the source of the Living Medicine EXCLUSIVELY for royalty. Because they believed it increased longevity, even by their very archaic standards!
The ancient Chinese also knew about it...
Forms of Living Medicine were even documented as early as 29th century B.C. in The Divine Farmer’s Materia Medica.
They didn’t have the kind of technology or capabilities we have today.
But we’ve seen time and time again that old knowledge can have transformative modern applications.
Even as recently as 1928...
LESS than 100 years ago...
Nobody realized the mold from an old orange... would become instrumental in developing penicillin... until Alexander Fleming thought to put it under a microscope.
The SAME story is playing out with Living Medicine.
It’s untapped potential has sat for centuries...
Millennia...
Until now.
And that’s why the smart money and billionaires are so excited.
And why I am excited to get you the details on the stocks cornering the market for Living Medicine.
Remember, for less than $2 per share on these companies, we can get shoulder-to-shoulder with billionaires on the BIGGEST trend happening in medicine.
Living Medicine Is About to Go Mainstream
I wouldn’t even be wasting your time right now...
If I didn’t think this was going to go completely mainstream in the weeks and months ahead.
I mentioned before the FDA has given Living Medicine BREAKTHROUGH STATUS.
But that’s not all.
Across the country, on a state-by-state basis...
New bills are being written to start moving to allow folks to have Living Medicine.
From the West Coast and California... to the midlands like Colorado... to the southwest of New Mexico... it’s spreading everywhere like wildfire.
For instance...
A program called “Initiative 301” in Colorado was signed into effect late in 2019...
The proposal received more than 89,320 VOTES.
And with that historic vote... Initiative 301 was signed into law! These laws are paving the way for this new treatment as Living Medicine gets the necessary greenlights from the FDA and the government
But Colorado isn’t the only one!
Just a month later, California followed suit.
New Mexico has almost completely given the greenlight, and they’re ready to go.
The FDA has also allowed doctors in Texas to start researching...
Oregon is in the process of starting a program as well!
As are the researchers I told you about at Johns Hopkins in Maryland...
And Florida’s getting on board – with half a million people with Alzheimer’s in the Sunshine State, this could be huge for the state!
It’s spreading rapid-fire across the country and for good reason.
The mental health crisis... is estimated to cost the world $16 TRILLION in the next 10 years.
We are DESPERATE for something that can help treat chronic pain, pill addiction, depression, PTSD and these debilitating diseases of the mind.
To me, the writing is on the wall...
If these states can get their best scientists...
Their best schools...
Their best doctors...
Their best state legislators...
All working toward the SAME goal...
I think it’s obvious...
The main companies in this space are going to reward shareholders with once-in-a-lifetime gains.
Millions of folks are going to finally start catching on in 2020...
It’s about to hit that breakout moment. When folks start talking about it like they do their favorite show on Netflix.
That tipping-point moment... when regular folks in the mainstream start asking... how do I invest in this?
And I think these stocks are going to SKYROCKET over time.
Which is why I want you to know about them now.
And why I want to send you my report on Living Medicine which reveals the stocks.
Because this is the moment...
It could feel like watching the same movie twice.
You know how it’s going to end.
Just like when cryptocurrency got popular... just like when marijuana stocks got popular.
This is when a mega-trend emerges from the shadows.
My expertise is on finding new investment markets as they develop.
I’m quite literally the Chief Trends Strategist at The Oxford Club, with more than 100,000 Members counting on me to find it before everyone else.
And I think this Living Medicine is going to create the third new booming market of the past decade.
Think for a second...
Five years ago, people thought you were smoking pot if you told them about marijuana stocks.
Ten years ago, nobody knew what a cryptocurrency was.
People looked at you like you were insane.
Trading paper money... for digital money?
That’s how it always is.
Peter Thiel, Michael Novogratz and Christian Angermayer all jumped into crypto very early.
Now these same guys are doing it again with Living Medicine.
They’re pushing their chips back into the middle of the table...
Novogratz recently told Bloomberg reporters, “It just feels like a cultural shift is going on.”
And he’s absolutely right.
A shift is going on.
This is a HUGE moment in our culture when folks get introduced to Living Medicine.
When hundreds of millions of people worldwide have their lives changed.
It’s a before-and-after moment for all of humanity, just like penicillin or aspirin.
Kevin O’Leary, the famous Shark Tank investor, said this about Living Medicine:
“As an investor, I am attracted to [This Living Medicine Company] because they are solving health problems through federally authorized clinical trials.”
But here’s what I REALLY love about Living Medicine compared with cryptocurrencies or pot stocks or other trends I saw...
Living Medicine can actually SOLVE the problems we are facing eventually.
Sure, crypto might one day have a clear purpose. We’re still waiting for when that day will come.
And medical marijuana is helping a LOT of people.
But I told you those stories only to show you the power of early adoption...
And how it pays to get in early with the smart money.
Now here’s why Living Medicine is so much better than those short-lived trends...
The companies creating this Living Medicine are working to help thousands of people right now with chronic pain, depression, brain function and more.
This is a LONG-term trend that will only get bigger.
This is a $34 BILLION potential market... and the companies I’m sharing with you have market caps in the mere millions.
They could grow 10... 20... 50 times in size and still have room to go.
They could grow 1,000 TIMES in size... and still be worth only a billion.
And the most breathtaking part of it is...
You can get in for an average of $2 a share on these companies I’m going to show you.
More than that...
You get to be a part of history and helping people.
Veterans with PTSD...
Cancer patients with depression...
Alzheimer’s patients who have trouble remembering their friends and family.
This is a chance to actually do some good in the world by backing these companies as they explode in value.
Living Medicine can help countless people within a single dose.
Get this...
80% of smokers who took Living Medicine... were able to quit the habit cold turkey within three doses.
This stuff is UBER-powerful.
Which is why an eyedropper of this Living Medicine could rewrite history books and medical journals on treatment.
It’s kind of how medical marijuana played out for investors...
Remember when they started realizing marijuana could treat disorders? And it suddenly blew up?
From Parkinson’s...
To helping folks who abused prescriptions...
That’s why when you look back at history, you see how the companies that were FIRST to try this revolutionary idea... were rewarded handsomely...
Abattis Pharmaceuticals launched from $0.03 to $2.21.
That’s a peak gain of 7,226% in three months’ time!
If you had been lucky enough to time it perfectly, it could have turned $500 into more than $36,000!
Sure, plenty of marijuana stocks were busts.
But I can’t even count how many weed stocks blasted off back then, when it was still a brand-new industry.
That’s why I think it’s important to at least give yourself a chance here with a small investment.
Yes, you could lose it. But the potential reward is so big that in my opinion, it is well worth it.
Ask yourself...
Do you want to get in on an opportunity like those again?
An opportunity accepted by billionaires and the people pouring money into it?
The medical professionals testing it?
The FDA giving it breakthrough therapy status?
That’s what’s in front of you right now.
Living Medicine is the FUTURE!
Now, I said before that I love this development because it can actually HELP people.
More and More Research Is Coming Out... Living Medicine Is the Next Big Thing!
When something starts to become big, everyone acts like they have a hand in it.
Every company suddenly latches onto the trend, even if they aren’t in on it!
That’s why you can’t just pick a Living Medicine company all willy-nilly.
But I think these stocks...
All at an average under $2 a share...
Represent the best opportunity in this space.
And don’t worry, you do NOT need to be a private accredited investor like Peter Thiel and his buddies to get in on these Living Medicine companies.
I’ve identified the only publicly traded ones investors should be looking at.
Bloomberg reported on February 11, 2020, “Move over pot. [Living Medicine] companies are about to go public.”
MarketWatch expects the IPO market at large to “crank into high gear.”
And I can’t help but think it’s because of this MASSIVE new development...
Green Entrepreneur published a report saying...
“[Living Medicines] are following a similar trajectory to cannabis – and investors are taking notice.”
Remember the tech boom, when companies like this would IPO nonstop, and it lifted the well-established companies EVEN HIGHER?
You’re watching the same show twice... You should know what’s going to happen.
It’s a telltale sign this market is about to enter its next massive growth phase.
Let Me Detail the ONLY Publicly Traded Companies Worth Looking at... Trading Under $2 on Average
The first company sells for less than a quarter.
It just inked a $500,000 deal with another group that wants the right to grow Living Medicine here in the United States.
It actually has a proprietary extraction technology it first perfected in the hemp industry.
It’s a proven system, something I love to see. And now it’s applying its extraction technique to Living Medicine.
A few more bullet points that come from my own analysis include...
· Its majority-owned subsidiary just completed the design for a preclinical study for using Living Medicine for weight loss and food craving. Obesity is a global epidemic killing 2.8 million people each year.
· The company has more than 200 wellness formulas in various stages of commercialization with 14 patent applications filed.
· The company currently has retail operations in three countries but plans to expand to 12 more.
· The global wellness market is a $4.2 trillion opportunity.
· The company’s management team includes people who cut their teeth at Johnson & Johnson and Procter & Gamble as well as Skechers and Aritzia. This, to me, legitimizes this company BIG-time.
My Second Living Medicine Company...
The second company is testing easy-to-use Living Medicine drops...
Now, I told you before you could get in with a Shark Tank investor...
Mr. Wonderful is an investor in this company. He was part of a $6 MILLION investing round.
And shares are just $0.44.
As if that wasn’t reason enough to get excited...
On the board of directors is none other than legendary Bruce Linton, who took Canopy Growth to the mainstream.
That stock launched to $50 at its peak!
Imagine what this Living Medicine stock could do with Bruce at the wheel again.
Even if this stock went to only HALF that – $25 a share – that would be a 5,581% increase!
Of course, we’re going to have to time it just right and nothing is guaranteed in investing... but we’re swinging for the fences, and we’ve already got Mr. Wonderful on third base!
My Third Living Medicine Company
The third company is just a buck and change.
Thirty percent of shares are held by insiders – a great sign!
Yet just 1.7% of institutions know about this.... It’s on only 1.7% of banks’ radars.
And here is what has me on the edge of my seat...
As I mentioned before, the billionaires and hedge fund guys are among the ONLY ones who know about Living Medicine...
And they’re certainly going to do whatever it takes to profit from it.
You better believe when this company gets discovered by the other institutions and ownership increases, it’s going to send the share price even higher!
This is what I mean when I say NOW is the time to get in... when the gains are set up to be the easiest... when the shares are this cheap!
And that brings me to the next breakout company I’ve identified...
My Fourth Living Medicine Stock Is Near and Dear to Me...
The cool thing is... this was one of the FIRST companies I ever found dabbling with Living Medicine. It kind of sent me down this journey.
It’s the $5 stock I told you about. But while this one might cost a little more, I think it’s well worth it.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, this company reported record revenue of $33 million, an increase of 152%. And this was its 10th consecutive quarter of record revenue.
So these guys are hanging in there while countless businesses are closing up shop forever.
That’s what you want, a company that can weather the storm!
It also has a partnership with the blue chip company 3M, further legitimizing this company’s product.
In my opinion, this is one of the most solid companies in the space.
This Fifth Living Medicine Company Is Off the Charts!
My fifth company is expanding globally and growing its operations. It’s based in Canada but now has operations in Australia and Malaysia.
This is pivotal because you want those companies that are capturing global markets, not just here in the States.
We forget that there are billions of people out there with the same problems as the 300 or so million Americans in our country. It’s a BIG global market, and these guys are chasing it down.
The CEO of this company has 15 years of pharmaceutical experience, including a division of Johnson & Johnson.
Best of all, shares are less than two bucks on this company.
My Sixth and Final Living Medicine Company
My sixth and final Living Medicine stock is also a sub-$2 opportunity.
But I’ve saved this one for last for a very important reason.
It just completed a massive acquisition of a fellow company.
And with this acquisition, it gets the RIGHT to three separate Phase 1 trials and a preclinical trial.
This is a HUGE advantage out of the gate – securing the right to try a medicine.
It also secures this company a partnership with InterVivo Solutions, Canada’s largest neuroscience-focused preclinical contract research organization.
As I’ve told you today, Living Medicine is considered a breakthrough therapy by the FDA – that’s a very high status designation.
And this company already has the right to trials for its medicine.
That’s like getting a 30-second head start in a foot race. You can’t beat that advantage.
The bottom line is...
I really think this company, along with the other five I just told you about, is the best of the best.
And Living Medicine is the single most powerful investment I’ve ever seen.
I’ve put together a report called “Living Medicine: The Next Big Thing” that will show you the ticker symbols, the growth potential and the massive industry at the fingertips of these six stocks.
I also mentioned I’ll show you how to buy “round lots.”
Showing you how to possibly get hundreds or thousands of shares for just a few hundred bucks.
Because that’s the beauty of this research package I’ll be sending you.
Even if you put, say, only $500 in these stocks... we’re talking just $3,000 total to get started.
And that $3,000 could hand you LIFE-CHANGING results.
Even if we’re ULTRA-realistic and we don’t think too greedily...
A fraction of gains like that could improve your life.
I want to send you this report on all six stocks right now.
No waiting!

Hisoka Character Psychoanalysis

Table of Contents: - Introduction - Hisoka with unworthy/weak people - Narcissistic Personality Disorder - Symptoms of NPD - Explanation for Hisoka’s intense pleasure and how he treats strong opponents (mentions his fights with Gon and Chrollo) - Conclusion
Introduction:
Hisoka doesn’t really differ from other anime characters who just want to beat strong people at their best in order to become the strongest. Except Hisoka’s case is he already sees himself as superior and thinks he can beat anyone 1v1. His confidence in winning was clear when he told Gon that he was gonna kill him once Gon meets his peak strength and when he thought to himself he was gonna be the one to kill Chrollo. He’s like a gamer who prefers to skip all the easy bosses and just go straight for the hard boss because that’s gonna feed his ego the most and winning will be way more satisfying. During the exam, Hisoka even told Netero that he wanted to fight him cuz he really thought he had a chance at killing him. In the manga, when Netero brushed him off, Hisoka got offended and said that old man really got on his nerves cuz of how unbothered he was, so Hisoka’s narcissism and superiority complex seems pretty clear.
Hisoka with Unworthy/Weak People:
The exam arc also kinda let us know that Hisoka doesn’t really find pleasure or bother fighting/killing weak people unless doing it would benefit him alternatively. We saw this when he refused to kill that guy on Zevil island cuz he was weak and dying. The reason for this is cuz Hisoka doesn’t gain any sort of achievement from picking on someone that is far below his pay grade and already knows their place. These kind of people aren’t worth Hisoka’s time. The main reason he killed the examiner and those other exam takers was because they didn’t know their place. The examiner was in a position to judge Hisoka, which Hisoka felt insulted with because he couldn’t imagine someone lower than him getting to judge him. In the manga he mentioned he killed the exam takers because his boredom led him to judge them. When they said he’s just like them he said “don’t compare me to the likes of you.” During his fight with Kastro I also recall Kastro saying he got stronger but Hisoka said that only he is allowed to be the judge of Kastro’s strength. Basically this guy is full of himself to the point he thinks he can play judge jury and executioner.
Hisoka has Narcissistic Personality Disorder:
This leads me to my main analysis where I think Hisoka has narcissistic personality disorder. For NPD, Hisoka belongs in the grandiose subtype: this features overt grandiosity, aggression, and boldness.
Symptoms of NPD:
Having a grandiose self importance and preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited power, wealth, brilliance, etc.:
Machi and the manga both stated that Hisoka believes himself to be the strongest and most powerful. He’s his own man and he does not belong to anything or anyone. I believe being the strongest is a fantasy Hisoka deludes himself to constantly believe, thus, he needs to constantly beat strong people in order to keep it alive.
A belief that they’re unique, only understood by or should only associate with other special or high status people + tendency to take advantage of others to achieve their own ends:
In Hisoka’s case, we see him associate with Illumi, Chrollo, and occasionally Gon and his friends. But the pattern is that he does it so that he can eventually kill them. They are worthy of his time, but being worthy to Hisoka means being worthy to be killed by him in a fair fight. Essentially everyone in one way or another is just an object for him to break. Whether it’s a toy, a fruit, or a card tower that he meticulously builds just so he could be the reason that it collapses (what’s interesting is he actually compares Gon to a card tower during their fight while he was holding back on killing him and it made me realize Hisoka enjoys building card towers because he enjoys destroying them afterwards— just like his opponents)
A sense of entitlement and unreasonable expectations of receiving favourable treatment or automatic compliance with their expectations:
Let’s get into him and Kastro (an opponent that had potential but failed to meet it). Hisoka had a history with Kastro where he won but he decided to let him live because he saw potential for him to be stronger. Unfortunately, Kastro did not meet that expectation in their next fight so Hisoka resorted to discarding him. Keep in mind Hisoka thought he’d win regardless but he at least hoped for a challenge to entertain him. Machi also seemed to point out that Hisoka was toying with him. His brutal style is that he doesn’t just need to beat his opponents he needs to psychologically break them. Although, Hisoka seemed pretty disappointed that Kastro’s psyche was too easy to break.
A sense of shame, humiliation, and emptiness when disappointed:
When I read this I instantly thought of when Chrollo told Hisoka he couldn’t use nen. I just thought this symptom described Hisoka’s disappointment accurately.
High achievement due to overconfidence but disrupted performance in the face of defeat or criticism:
I think it’s important to note Hisoka said “reality is harsh” after his fight with Chrollo. It further supports my theory that he constantly fantasized about winning. Hisoka’s high achievement was always winning due to his confidence but that was disrupted when Chrollo beat him and for the first time we saw Hisoka change his methods of killing his opponents. He was gonna play dirty and weaken Chrollo by going after the spiders (because the spiders are basically a part of Chrollo).
Showing aggression when faced with a threat to their ego:
Hisoka’s ego took a hit after Chrollo. According to Togashi, Hisoka also killed Shalnark and Kortopi as revenge. The fact that Hisoka also gave up his leniency to let his opponents prepare and he said he’d fight the spiders on sight also seems like a pretty big deal to me because at this point Hisoka just cares about beating Chrollo— CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT?
Pathological Lying:
Bisky implied on greed island that Hisoka is a pathological liar— unlike other transmuters, he ends up lying for no obvious motivation. Pathological lying doesn’t occur for any clear reason nor does it seem to benefit the individual. Psychologists can’t figure out if people who pathologically lie are capable of thinking rationally about their lies, and pathological lying has also been linked to certain behaviours such as boredom, lack of empathy, inappropriate social behaviour, and compulsive behaviour. It seems like Hisoka isn’t very rational when he lies or acts a certain way to provoke reactions out of people for his own benefit, he just compulsively goes all out. But I did notice that he makes up his lies depending on his situation and environment.
Examples of Hisoka’s compulsive lying and how he makes them up on the spot:
Explanation for Hisoka’s intense pleasure and how he treats strong opponents:
Our brains neurologically process both sexual and non sexual pleasure the same. The areas that light up and lead to an orgasm are the same that light up for like drugs, food, listening to your fave songs, or even winning at poker if you’re about that lmao. Horror movies and fear can be another example of excitement from adrenaline. There are also cases that prove orgasms aren’t limited to sexual desire/pleasure cuz people have gotten them from things with no sexual desire attached. It is also possible to fantasize about something whether non sexual or sexual to the point it gives you orgasmic pleasure and I think that’s what Hisoka does. He fantasizes about completely demolishing challenging people because in the end it makes him feel good about himself to an intense level. Just like gambling addicts chase the high of winning, Hisoka chases the high of beating strong opponents.
Hisoka’s Fight with Gon (an opponent that still has potential):
Hisoka told Netero he didn’t plan on fighting Gon or Killua any time soon. But he’s entitled so after Gon refused to accept his badge, he confidently said he’ll take it back if Gon can even hit him. He let Gon decide the time and place of the fight and he even did this with Chrollo cuz he was really confident that he’d win regardless. He’s aware he could beat Gon and went easy on him cuz he didn’t wanna kill him yet. Even so, he had to win for his pride and Killua pointed out that Hisoka enjoyed his superiority. One thing about Hisoka is he’s very perceptive and good at judging people just by looking at them and their expressions. We saw this in the hunter’s exam. Gon is and if not the MOST stubborn mf on the show. Once he puts his mind to something there’s no stopping him and we saw what that did when he turned into adult Gon (who was arguably as strong as Meruem or strong enough to hurt him). I think Hisoka is perceptive enough to get a general sense of what Gon is mentally capable of and he knows that if he can break that strong psychological state, then it’ll make him feel powerful to the point his pleasure would become orgasmic. When he saw the determination in Gon’s eyes, he got excited at the thought of breaking him and had to hold himself back from killing Gon then and there. I think he also told Chrollo before their fight that his greatest pleasure comes from seeing people like him lose and realize their plans have failed all thanks to Hisoka.
Hisoka’s Fight with Chrollo (an opponent that is ready to be killed by Hisoka so he was the priority throughout the show):
In Yorknew arc there’s a moment where Hisoka imagines the possibility of killing Chrollo and he gets a boner because thinking of killing someone like Chrollo would be a very high achievement that will give him that pleasure he’s addicted to. But Hisoka made sure during their fight that Chrollo was declaring a drawn out battle and intended to 100% win or else killing him wouldn’t be as satisfying, fulfilling, so it doesn’t give him that high he chases. I also think the fact that Hisoka goes into these fights believing he’ll win kinda negates the idea that he’s attracted to strong power itself since I think that would require him to be turned on by it regardless on if he thought he’d win or lose in a fight. If that were the case, then I feel like Hisoka wouldn’t have been so displeased with their fight when Chrollo was being all strong and powerful like Hisoka wanted. He also commented that things were getting troublesome as Chrollo was explaining his abilities, which seemed to me that Hisoka was actually worried about losing for the first time.
Conclusion:
Put simply, Hisoka’s behaviour is a result of his narcissism and his pleasure comes from breaking difficult opponents. Hisoka’s motives and actions are more obviously oriented to his endgame— getting to fight and kill strong opponents or really anything that feeds his egotistical fantasy. Hisoka’s also not someone that necessarily strives for chaos nor does he try to get people to hate him. People just happen to hate him cuz he’s a selfish dick but as long as he gets to reach his goals and feed his ego, he doesn’t give a shit about what people think of him
Lmk if this was helpful or interesting!

Genocide, Crime, and Subterfuge in the 20th Century - Common Setting Discussions

A common trait Assassin’s Creed groups have is the constant theorizing about future settings, because historical tourism is one of the best parts of the series. This series of posts will act as a counter to my Mildly Obscure setting discussions, but rather than looking at a single point, I will be taking a broad setting that is popular and looking at several potential settings to explore within it. Today’s setting is the 20th century. References and spoilers for recent comics including Bloodstone are below.

World Wars
I want to start with the obvious setting of World War 1 and 2. Both could contain interesting lore for sure, but I don’t feel either would fit AC very well for a full title. Both wars took place all around Europe, Asia, and Africa, meaning we’d likely only experience a single theatre (Europe most likely), which has first of all been done a lot by other games like Call of Duty; and second of all the two big cities of Paris and London were shown just before the 20th century (and both games featured part of the 20th century). World War 1 is honestly inaccessible for the most part due to trench warfare. I don’t deny sneaking through the trenches to assassinate a German Templar leading the other side could be fun, but I think the best way to handle the game would be to just focus on a single city like Berlin. If we see Berlin, it’d obviously be during World War 2, and Nazi Architecture would be incredible to parkour on, but the city was almost completely destroyed by the Russians, and the brutality of both wars is on a scale that I don’t feel Ubisoft can truly represent. That’s also ignoring the bigger elephant of the holocaust, in which the Nazi party had ghettoized millions of Jews, transported them out of the country, and put them in death camps with all other undesirables including Slavs, gypsies, and gays. On the low end they killed 6 million people, and on the high end may have killed up to 17 million. Making a game in World War 2 Berlin cannot ignore this, but I honestly would fear seeing a modern open-world AC game in Germany and the lack of respect or tact for the holocaust. Like I’d half expect that we’re Kilroy, and all the concentration camps are PoI for us to clear and free the prisoners from. This setting should just be left to the expanded universe and the few rifts we already have had.

Russian Revolution
In the Russian Empire, Templars had been attempting to use the royal family for years. Notably, Rasputin was a Templar agent who stole a staff of Eden from Tsar Nicholas II which was mostly destroyed in the Tunguska Event at the hands of Nikolai Orlev and his accomplices. A single shard remained which Rasputin held onto, likely allowing him to survive several more assassination attempts until 1916 when he was finally killed by Felix Yusupov. In March of 1917 amidst the revolution calling for the Tsar to abdicate, Nikolai Orlev was searching for the staff, breaking into the Tsar’s home in Petrograd, confronting the Tsar, and leaving after breaking the staff despite a request from Vladimir Lenin to assassinate him. Nikolai eventually found Rasputin’s grave and the staff shard still on his body. Tsar Nicholas would abdicate a few days later.
Despite Lenin’s affiliations to the Assassins, Templars infiltrated his ranks and in November of 1917, he began the October Revolution with the intention of ending the provisional government and creating the Congress of Soviets for the Bolshevik Party. The armed insurrection began in Petrograd which split the assassins, and further split them as Templars executed Tsar Nicholas and his entire family save for Anastasia who was rescued by Nikolai Orlev who then fled to America. This was a major point that began the armed conflict between the Red Army of the Bolsheviks and the White Army of Supporters for the Russian Empire known as the Russian Civil War. During this, it appears the Assassins largely collapsed under the weight of the Templars that controlled both the Red and White army. In 1924, after Vladimir Lenin died of a sickness, Joseph Stalin rose to become the first Premier of the newly formed Soviet Union which during the course of the war conquered central Asia and Siberia. Personally, I’d rather see Imperial Russia like Ivan the Terrible, Peter the Great, or Catherine the Great, or Napoleon’s Invasion with a focus on Moscow(1)(7).jpg) and Petrograd (St Petersburg).

Prohibition US
Personally, this is my favored setting for an AC game in the 20th century. Women gained the right to vote in 1920 just after the prohibition of alcohol due to pressure from Feminist and Christian groups sparking the creation of Organized Crime throughout major cities and rumrunners smuggling alcohol. By 1925 New York City had over 10,000 speakeasies to illegal buy alcohol. The Creation of the mafias led to the US federal government responding with a 3000 man task force and later creation of the FBI. In this, we have the rise of notorious gangsters like Al Capone who orchestrated the St Valentine’s Day Massacre, Dutch Schultz, and Chester La Mare in Chicago, New York, and Detroit respectively. Las Vegas was just getting off its feet due to new laws relaxing the restrictions on Gambling creating new Crime bosses there. The Ohio Gang in Congress was at the heart of corruption in the Harding administration. The Pinkerton Detective Agency also continued and expanded to other countries in this time, being sent to investigate union disputes, during which Gangsters began taking control of unions for their racketeering schemes. I can’t deny that it’d be fun to be able to explore the Boroughs of New York/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/63839281/GettyImages_3089399.0.jpg), Chicago, Detroit, and Vegas at the heart of prohibition (though we’d need the rope launcher again), and maybe take contracts for the crime lords, or fight against them maybe as a detective part of the Pinkertons. It’d certainly be interesting to assassinate the most notorious crime lords in American history. It would likely take more of a 3rd person shooter vibe with Tommy Guns, Shotguns, Rifles, and pistols, but I can see cane swords and Hidden Blades being useful for combat too. I feel this game would be Syndicate-Esque with maybe Film-Noir vibes, and the occasional car chase. This setting was really popularized due to the “Jazz Age Junkies” in Unity in which a character in this setting was also in contact with Hemingway, Fitzgerald, and Stein (famous American Writers).

The Summer of Love
In 1967 over 100,000 people entered the city of San Francisco to smoke pot, do psychedelic drugs, promote free love, and music as a form of protest against the Vietnam War and consumerism. I admit the era is fantastic in terms of lore potential. In 1963 JFK was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald a Templar sleeper agent, during which JFK's driver was under the influence of a PoE which also caused the illusion of a man on the hill creating the multiple shooter conspiracy theory. The Space Race was really a contest between Assassins and Templars to get to the apple on the moon first, as Assassins largely backed US presidents (Save for a few who were tied to Templars like FDR and Truman), while the USSR was largely controlled by Templars. The CIA began experimenting massively in attempts to defeat Russia, including looking at the effects of a LSD sex house in San Francisco during the Summer of Love, and even used LSD to attempt to facilitate psychic powers including the ability to kill someone by staring at them, which was tested on Goats in the Stargate Project which attempted to “Unlock the human potential for military applications”.
At this time during the cold war, conspiracies and alien sightings were pretty common leading to sightings of bigfoot and Mothman for example, the latter of which allegedly caused Men in Black to harass locals in West Virginia. Perhaps a lore explanation of these phenomena and mass hysteria was Templar or Assassin experimentation with PoE and psychedelics which they would then make disappear with the alleged Men in Black. The US did experiment with the potential for weather changing technology and biological warfare via dropping bacteria and chemicals from high altitude, which gave way to conspiracies about chemtrails. While chemtrails as the modern conspiracy isn't true, the US experimented A LOT with honestly really fucked up things like incendiary bats which destroyed a military base in New Mexico; or in 1967 they scrapped the Acoustic Kitty Project where the US government implanted listening devices in cats and tried to train them to follow people and listen to conversations. Spoiler Alert, the cats refused to be trained. Though this could be an interesting skill in an AC game in this era. It wasn’t just animals that were experimented on, as there were unethical human experimentations done on soldiers, criminally insane, and orphaned children across the US including testing radiation effects, injecting diseases, poor health standards, drug treatments, and of course rumors with no actual reports on attempts to create child soldiers. While this is thus far an unproven conspiracy theory, FOIA requests of FBI reports do show a potential CIA Human/ Sex Trafficking ring called the Finders from the late 80s and early 90s operating throughout the US which many conspiracy theorists were quick to point similarities to conspiracies about the current Government’s and Elites’ relation to pedophile rings including one at least partially operated by Jeffrey Epstein. Pair this with other real projects including MKUltra, Artichoke, and Bluebird which attempted to brainwash - sometimes with drugs and drug addiction to morphine - people to attempt assassinations and act as sleeper cells.
This era in the 60s and 70s was the birth of Abstergo and the Animus program which Vidic began testing on subjects in 1980. In 2000 Abstergo’s creation of a Sleeper Cell ala Daniel Cross, succeeded by having him assassinate the mentor and starting the Great Purge. Sleeper cells, spies, espionage, and subterfuge are nothing new in media and video games. Even the most recent Call of Duty game has been marketed with Yuri Bezmenov’s speeches on Russian Subversion tactics in relation to a sleeper cell in America.
This is to say nothing of the countless US interventions during the Cold War and later including a coup in Argentina and Chile the latter of which the US-supported Pinochet who subsequently executed thousands of political dissidents; firebombed Laos and Cambodia, supported Papa Doc who used death squads of the Tonton Macoutes in Haiti to enforce his rule, invaded the Bay of Pigs and had several attempts at assassinating Castro, and the US’s support for terrorists and dictators in the middle east including Afghanistan and Iraq leading the rise and creation of cells like Al Qaeda and ISIS.
I know the majority of this has been looking away from the Summer of Love, but I’m using all the conspiracies and actual projects mentioned here that actually happened during the cold war as a potential basis for what can be explored in a game in San Francisco or New York in 1967. While the game idea was only popularized due to a joke from the Simpsons later posted in AC4, the lore potential is very real.

21st Century and beyond
People have been asking for a modern-day Assassin’s Creed for years now, due in part to the original plan for AC3 being modern-day only or not having to use an animus to go to the past due to the bleeding effect. This luckily never came to fruition, which is good. Assassin’s Creed is meant to be a primarily historical game, and a large part of the draw is historical tourism. That said, I do like the modern-day in the series, and think we should see a time jump forward to like 2030 and have the series slowly work towards that date so we can have successive games like Desmond had, rather than the disjointed nature Layla’s Saga has had.

The culture of the film industry is toxic and abuses the lowest man on the rung. Please help us better this culture and get fairer working conditions by spreading the word.

(TL:DR: While film/tv has gotten better for treatment of higher ups (#MeToo, etc), its entry level employees are constantly abused by an overdemanding work schedule, low pay, and harsh treatment)
This is a longer post that is being made from a throwaway account, as I do not want my identity to be attached for fear of being blacklisted (never hired again) in the industry.
I am a working production assistant in the New York City tv/film industry, and have been doing so regularly for over a year now. I, like many of my coworkers and friends in the industry, grew up being mesmerized by film and television, with the hope that I could somehow get into the business, make a living, and potentially achieve my creative dreams. I want to preface that I, and everyone else I know in my position, knows that we are in an ultra-competitive business, and that you need some mixture of luck, talent, and knowing someone to get even a sniff at creating your own content for the general public. That being said, the top powers in the industry know this too, and take advantage of the entry level worker. And they can--because it has the lowest barrier to entry across the film departments, and doesn't have any skill requirements outside of being a competent adult.
That being said, it has gotten to the point where their treatment of the entry level worker has become borderline abusive, in the fact that it does not pay an equal rate, simply because there is no union for production assistants, so there is no pressure or need to pay above minimum wage.
As a production assistant, our job is something of a punch line. Getting people coffee is, yes, one of our jobs. But to say that alone is our job is ridiculous. A production assistant is a valuable and integral member of the production department, which for clarification, is the department of the Assistant Director, or AD. For those of you unfamiliar, the AD's job is to run the logistics of the set essentially. They are responsible for planning the day, which can range from a single location to many, and a fragment of a scene to a full one. A better description of the AD role can be found here.
As part of the AD department, the production assistant is essentially an extension of the AD. Our job is to follow through on their plan and orders, so that production runs smoothly. Nothing, and I mean nothing, burns money faster than a film set, so it is incredibly important that, logistically, no time is wasted. The slightest delay can cost a production millions of dollars, and ironically, the fate of preventing millions of dollars from going down the chute is left in the hands of an employee that is paid $15 an hour, and after eight hours, $22.50. My job has consisted of guiding 300 background extras half a mile to set, bringing your favorite actors from their trailer through a crowded New York area with poor directions to set, keeping track of over 200 walkie talkies, which comes out to over $20k in equipment, telling people getting off the Staten Island Ferry (which, when it lands, is roughly 100 or so) to wait a minute as we try and film a winter scene in the middle of summer, and their outfits will break continuity. It's constant planning, coordinating, and communication, and you're rarely out of the picture. For $15 an hour, with the fate of main cast members, thousands of dollars of equipment, and environmental elements in my hands, that doesn't seem sufficient. Now, in a suburban or rural setting, as a first or maybe even second job, that isn't a bad rate. But while there has been growth in some other areas (Atlanta, New Orleans, New Mexico), most of film happens in New York and LA, which are among the highest cost of living areas in the United States.
Under normal circumstances, a normal work schedule of 40 hours a week, it would be impossible to afford New York City rent. But film sets don't work like a normal work schedule. We are a minimum 12 hour day (and it's rarely a minimum day) and often, to combat falling behind, a sixth day Saturday is instilled into the schedule. On average, we work roughly 65 hours a week (we being the whole set). But PA's are the first ones in, and the last one's out. Often, we're looking at 75+ hour weeks. Friday often ends at midnight or later. Your commute home is an hour. You're getting up at 12 on Saturday, and you're in bed by 9 on Sunday because you have to get up at 4:30 to get to work at 6 on Monday. Whatever gig you're working on isn't just a gig--it becomes your life. You know this going in, but that doesn't change the burnout that many PA's experience from long hours, consistent verbal abuse or condescending language on set, and minimum pay.
For other departments, while the work schedule is daunting, they are at least being compensated at a rate that makes it "worth it". What do I mean by this? Well, the lowest ranking member of the other departments--camera loader, prop hand, grip, etc--makes roughly double what we make in a day (roughly $400 compared to $210--before taxes). So, if they aren't addicted to sports gambling, they want to take off a few months of work because of burn out, they have money put away to do so. This isn't the case with PA's. Rent is roughly $1000 a month. Groceries $200. Student loans are roughly $400, but most of us went to New York schools or in the tri-state area, so it's generally higher. All and all, bare minimum, you have $2k a month in necessities. When the most you can really possibly make in a month is about twice that, you're left with something around $1000 in savings, which is not even half of your next month's necessities. And when your average work day is 1.6ish times that of a "normal" worker, one month of work is really like 1.6, two is like three, and so forth.
To add onto this, there are limited staffing positions. What is a staff PA compared to an additional? A staff PA works on only that project. An additional has more flexibility, and can work on multiple projects at once. But that doesn't mean multiple projects are looking for additional PA's. So consistent income opportunities are not plentiful. So if you're not lucky enough to get tapped for a staff gig consistently (I fortunately do, to a degree) you're scrambling each month to make your bill payments, and building nothing in terms of a future for yourself.
This is in addition to awful physical and mental working conditions. While there are some kind souls in the industry, on average, as a PA, you're treated like a mule and are the butt of every joke. It's kind of like the movie Parasite with "the smell"--perhaps higher ups interact with you once in a while, but the power dynamics are clear, and most people are condescending or simply unresponsive to you. It is also an unspoken rule that you are not allowed to sit, as it is a showing of "laziness". So you're constantly standing for 14ish hours a day, outside of lunch and transportation to and from locations, which is terrible obviously for your feet, ankles, knees, spine, and so forth. But you have to do it, otherwise you'll get yelled at, or not asked to come back to work. In addition to that, while other departments get turnaround, which is a minimum amount of hours between when you wrap and when the next call is (it's usually 10), you don't get that. You're usually sticking around for 1.5 hrs afterwards to help wrap out, then you have roughly an hour commute home. So when you get home, it's 7.5 hrs to the next call. But your call is usually 1-1.5 hrs before call, so you have 5 hours to sleep, and then you're back out the door. When rest and free time does come on the weekend, you're aching all over and unable to have a normal life outside of your job. While some people may laugh and poke "oh, poor you for not being able to have a "social" life", I find it ridiculous that I (along with many others) exist solely for the purpose of working, without interests and creative projects of my own.
When it really boils down to it, you're working to make connections, and by that I mean, the fat chance that someone in the department you're interested in takes a liking to you, and tries to bring you aboard. For most of us, our income does not increase unless this happens, or we become an AD, which on average, takes three years, as you need 600 days (in NY at least) to apply for the union. But there are 13+ departments on a set, and many people who join film aren't joining to be part of the logistical side. Really, it's about someone wanting to take a chance on you, or someone wanting to have sex with you. As far as someone taking a chance, that will always be given to the lucky sperm club (producer's friends/family, and down the line) before you can use whatever charm, wit, and charisma you have crafted to win someone over. As for the sex, female PA's are pretty consistently sexually harassed by someone. I'd go as far as to say that every female PA I know has a sexual harassment story from a higher up even. So while it's great that #MeToo exposed Harvey Weinstein's abuse towards major actresses, it hasn't done much for entry level workers who are at the mercy of the producer's couch and department heads.
There is also, to no shocking avail, discrimination towards people of color still. My roommate is a person of color, and I am white. We began working at the same time. He has yet to receive a staff PA offer, while I have had four. And if I'm speaking objectively, he's much better with people, more positive, and is a better PA than I am. So yet again, while it's cool that on screen representation is better now, not that much has really happened on our end.
COVID has really put things into perspective. Many PA's are avoiding going back to work for a number of reasons. While sets have created a new department--the COVID department--and have promised 10 hr days and safety precautions to PA's, it's mostly a sham. A friend of mine's first day back, he worked 15 hours, got home at 9, and had to be at work at 4:30 the next day. The Covid team yells "six feet!" and tells people not to congregate, but if you're any department aside from the AD department, you're ignoring them just like how you ignore PA's. People have died (here's one example two weeks ago). When you have no healthcare, are getting paid s*it money, and are being asked to put your health at risk during a global pandemic whose symptoms and effects we STILL don't understand, $15 is a slap in the face for us to make a producer or studio that already has millions and millions of dollars more money, especially when the federal government could afford to pay us more than our monthly take home.
And it's not an economic thing either. Citing the Scriptnotes podcast, episode 463 or 462 (Development Hack), John August and Craig Mazin (whom I love) discuss WME agent assistants getting a pay bump from $15 to $18 an hour. And they laughed at how little that was, because they know how little they're underpaid. Well guess what--we're right there with them! The average movie budget over the last 19 years is $18 million. From 2014-2018, across different genres, the lowest median was in music, which was $7 million. The average production employs five staff PA's and a Key PA (captain of the PA's), and usually 3-5 additionals. Job length affects our pay, but a movie in this budget range is usually a month. Even if you doubled our pay, it would barely, and I'm not even sure if it would, occupy 1% of the budget. That's how little we're paid.
Unionizing would be the ideal move, but since it is an entry level position without specialized skill requirements, it will not be easy. Young, fresh out of college kids with one or two connections will fill right in, believing that we're entitled because like we were, they will be enamored with the galore of Hollywood. But give it six months--most of them will be on our side. I don't have my name attached because if my identity is discovered, I will be blacklisted. The point of this post is to generate a buzz that I hope will lead to change in a toxic working environment, whether that be by forming a union or establishing better rates.
I will end on this--there is no reason that, in an industry that makes a new millionaire everyday, that we can't afford to provide better working conditions for those of us who are simply trying to pay off our student loans and make a living for ourselves like anyone else.

Genius Project - Move to the Universe by person who live Hong Kong

Significant discoveries in psychology and physics Psychologically (Treatment of mood disorders)
物理學上 (火星移民計劃) First of all, I am a manic-depressive patient. Actually I don't know if I am manic-depressive patient, but if you define the symptoms of this disease, I think I do. But please don't judge me first. Reading and analyzing this article, you will know am I correct. Scientists have found powerful evidence that genius may be linked with madness. Our brains structure are congenitally different from ordinary people. The brain runs very fast during the manic phase, but I don't know when we will reach the end. For details, see the characteristics related to bipolar disorder. I think your current treatment of bipolar disorder is wrong because you never understand us. There are many methods and experiences in treating this disease in my mind, and I am confident that my experience can help you. I can say with certainty that your knowledge of this disease is only in your definition of us. For me, as long as I am in an "manic" state, my view of quantum mechanics and religion is completely different from that of ordinary people. We instinctively like to learn about religion, like to learn about the world, and like what we think is the truth. I think these are all areas that can be studied, and there are many more. Although I am not deep in every research, but I can have a different understanding of everything. I think American movies are the existence that convinces us of consciousness. You must have deep research in these areas. I want to learn , but I can’t learn this knowledge online. I want to be smart all the time, so I come to you. I agree with you that we will be very arrogant, but at the same time because of this disease, we will be very humbly asking for advice. You can ask my opinion, and then test whether my inference is the same as your research, such as consciousness, religious mechanics, quantum mechanics. I don't know how much time I have been smart, but I can understand one thing very deeply and understand it quickly compared to others. But in fact, I don't know if I am smart, because the people around me are just ordinary college students, so I want to prove it. I need an authority in this area to help me. I think everyone has a world. I used to have a low self-esteem because I was the only one who liked Buddha. But after reading the definition of quantum mechanics, I think I am very smart, because everything in the world is universal. I think my life is too dull, I can chat with you, or you can give me some research directions, and let me understand it in different way. This is just something that I find fun and use to avoid exam. Whether I say it is true or not, it is worth to study on this genius disease. For me, all people with bipolar disorder are geniuses. It's just being advertised as a disease by society, requiring treatment, harmful to society, and being discriminated against by the public. This is what makes bipolar disorder to be the highest rate of suicide. The real murderers are all psychologists. Consciousness 24 Billy You disdain consciousness. The master character decides which one has memory, and we can choose to forget or not. Each of us has conscious, for example, you have seen ghosts, it depends on whether you are afraid and choose to forget or not. In fact, we can choose to forget, but we have already forgotten the progress. People recall everything before death. I deduced from this, it may be wrong or right. But at least after I overcome this disease, I know that I can actually control my manic character, provided that I have a broad mind. The Chinese Buddha has helped me a lot in this regard, although I cannot forget, or I have forgotten whether I have forgotten. My consciousness tells me that I can do it, even if I can't prove it.irm it. I tried to have lucid dreams since I was a child, but I couldn’t do it, even after using many methods. Last night was the first time I tried it with a modern method. In fact, I couldn’t do it. I should say I don’t remember if I can do it. Here, I need your help. I believe the deep subconsciousness exists, but every time I wake up I can't recall it. I want to use it to help more people like me. I am not afraid that you will think I am crazy, because I am used to being treated as a stranger. Even if no one says it, I can feel it. People with mood disorders are particularly sensitive in emotional perception. I am grateful that psychology has taught me a lot, and I admit that psychology has saved many people. However, due to the stereotype of this disease, more and more people are getting this disease. While saving people, we are all harming people. 1. I like to think. I am born different from people, so I will change myself to conform to the surrounding environment. In fact, I was extremely painful, and I didn't know the reason before. But after studying for an hour, I found that this is very similar to the definition of psychological commonwealth. Whether through images or text, I have a strong imagination. So I can mimic his world by studying the story of a saint, just like the god in the Bible. I think god didn't let Adam and Eve to eat the apple, it's because he think that the wisdom is too painful for human. It may be very arrogant. When you have wisdom, you will feel that the world is so boring. I have liked religion since I was a child, because I like stories and everyone's world. For example, what the Buddha said, the past, the present and the future. My understanding is that he understands everything at that moment and he can let go. I think people make his thought upside-down. When people get old, they can let go. Letting go of everything can make me progress. The most difficult thing is to let go of my own knowledge and learn the world with new understanding. To me, everything in the world makes sense. I have obtained is too little information now, so I am too narrow to see things. It seems that I was born to solve the problems. Life is not interesting or challenging for me. Also, I think emotional illness is our body's mechanism to protect ourselves. For example, hurting ourselves is actually to prevent our own suicide. 2. I sent this plan to all psychology associations and scientists in the world. Actually I feel nervers and low self-esteem after sending. Because I am overthrowing everything, but I believe I can bring you new perspectives. Please believe me or refute me. 3. Let’s talk about treatment of bipolar disorder, I have a diary that records my treatment of myself. The last challenge I gave myself was smoking, and then forced to quit smoking when I felt addicted. Although the process is a bit hard, I really enjoy the process of successfully quitting smoking. Due to my strong self-confidence, I never doubted myself. It's like I am born to believe that I am better than others, even if his grades are better than me. 4. I long for knowledge, and I hope to learn all the truths in this world. Atoms, quantum and relativity are all known to us humans. Believe me, if AI becomes smart and conscious, they will find it very boring because humans are stupid. I am actually inferior, but also arrogant. You are right, just like God's arrogant thoughts. But I always remind myself to keep an open mind to ask for advice. It is an inevitable fact for me to become the smartest person in the future. Using your current inferences, this kind of illness has made my consciousness fantastic. Because I was born to feel smart is inevitable. I'm sorry, I don't want to be so arrogant, and I feel guilty many times for this. Trust me, I believe everyone is equally smart. 5. Finally, let me talk about why you want to send an email, because I only know the definition of bipolar disorder today. I was surprised to find that the disease was the same as mine, only to realize that the disease was defined so badly. I was very angry, so I wanted to speak up for this disease. We are geniuses, but in the first 20 years of life, you have to survive it yourself, and you can become me. Don't believe the conclusions of psychologists. The one who knows best about yourself is actually yourself. From a modern perspective, the pain of your birth is destined to be extraordinary. This is your opportunity, because you are happier than normal people. You can choose to be treated by someone who has never had an emotional illness, be an ordinary person, or believe in yourself and be an extraordinary person. 1. I need money and achievements to prove to my parents that I am smart, but for myself, money is just to make me happy to buy what I love. For me, it is very difficult to prove that I am a talented person, and I have never felt that I do not need it, because I am only better in my mind. From a social point of view, I am a rubbish because I study too slowly, so I I hate these things. I know that if I like learning, I am a relative genius. I never think I am smart. I think the world is big. I hope to communicate with the authorities of all countries in the world. I want to use a social perspective to prove that I am a genius, but I don't want to think about proving myself, because if this continues, suicide is an inevitable result for me. I hope I can save myself. I hope that a psychologist will believe in me and give me the basic needs to do my research. At least for the time being, I love psychology. If you ask me, it’s very simple to solve this disease, that is, I don’t have to go to work, and I don’t have to learn what I don’t like to prove myself.I don't know how I work in this society is suitable for me, I hate the environment of many people, hate money, hate being famous, so I hope you can help me keep these opinions secret. I hope someone believes in me and is willing to believe in me, but it doesn't matter to me. Maybe after that I will no longer be interested in psychology, because no one has proven that what I said is correct. Ever since I was young, I have always felt that my talent is daydreaming. I hope someone can believe me, but in my heart I just feel that proving myself is troublesome. The 28th is the day when I am going to take the exam. I hope that before that, through this method, I will change my destiny in accounting. Because I am a Chinese, this is only done for my family, but I know that I will only commit suicide if I continue. Perhaps very arrogant, but I hope you believe that I am capable. Perhaps many of my current theories are very naive, but I really feel bored and lonely. I hope I can calm down and study, but I know that I need to take drugs that calm down to do what I don't want to do, and at the same time my mind will become stupid. I am convinced that I am special, but I am not sure if I am smart, because all the quasi-tests in this society show that I am stupid. For me, this is the fate I was born to accept. I was born with this kind of pain, and I know I can’t change it, so this plan is my gamble. I hope someone can use my talent. Actually, I don’t know what it does to me, I just don’t get bored. So this is also the cause of the most suicide rate. I have also prevented myself from committing suicide many times, and used the method of hurting myself to prevent further loss. I am arrogant, but at the same time I am extremely inferior. Numbers are used to calculate the future, but this is limited to the human perspective. I believe in the theory of relativity and I like quantum mechanics, because one thing finally proves that I am not lying. I hope someone can help me, but don't help me from the perspective of a normal person, because I was born abnormal. I believe that my nature is kind, and getting up every day is for me to hone my character, because I think this world is boring and no one will understand me. The following are my characteristics. I hope someone can use my characteristics to arrange a job for me instead of just arranging me a normal job. 1. From a psychological point of view, my brain turns very fast, this feeling will make you feel like a god. Thinking from this perspective, I can say that I am the person closest to the idea of God, and I can easily understand what they say. 2. Through my eyes, I can feel good or bad instinctively. I don't know if it is wrong or right, but when I look at that person, I intuitively like or dislike him. 3. Wisdom can make me addicted, and I know very well that if I want to get ahead in society, I must go to cure. But I hate it because it is changing my character and my nature. It's never a disease, but people don't understand it. I have tried to understand the world of normal people since I was born. I am abnormal in your eyes, but you are the abnormal in my eyes. My life is only rational, but I actually have a lot of emotions. But you must rely on such a strong xinxing to control yourself. To me, Buddha and Confucius are both smart people because I understand their words. 4. No matter what the result is, my destiny is destined in my opinion. Maybe many people want to be a smart person, but believe me, you will be better than dead, just to sort out such a mess of thoughts, come to me Saying takes more time than others, so I hate typing. Regardless of the result, thank you. I have been very happy these two days. I have learned a lot and I have deepened my understanding of my illness. I really want you to help me prove it, but I have to put it down again, because if this continues, I may not be able to think about it. 1. My arrogance limits my knowledge I have fought so many times, maybe you don’t believe that I have this disease. For me, I don’t know if things are right. As long as I am happy or angry, my thinking will be relatively fast. I try to give explanations based on my childhood experience, but they are only representative of me. It is very painful for me to have this disease, but now I am very happy to be able to communicate with you about this aspect, and my learning speed will become relatively faster. We are really not arrogant. I believe that people with this disease have super intuition. I don’t know if it’s right, but I can quickly judge right or wrong based on what I have learned. The more you get, the more accurate your judgment will be than others. When I was a child, I couldn't concentrate on class, because my mind often popped up many different ideas. Let me talk about my characteristics and hope that I can help you. 1. I like to fight since I was born, and people around me will habitually believe in me. Anger can make me think quickly. I used to believe in constellations because I was a Scorpio. I thought it was a kind of stingy character, but in fact, I seldom get angry with people. Usually the point of my anger is that they don't believe me. In the process of growing up, we will meet many people who are more knowledgeable than me. It is very painful for us to accept new things, because in our minds, what we say is the truth. 2. I have never liked drinking since I was young because it makes me unable to think. 3. I like an absolutely quiet place, as long as I say to be serious, whether in games or in study (but usually I can’t concentrate unless you like the person who teaches you very much) As long as anyone interrupts me, I will definitely I can't control the tantrums at the people around me. People around me will definitely feel that we are trapped in ourselves and want to save us. But we can only figure it out by ourselves, because we are very arrogant about ourselves, we only believe in people who are smarter or stronger than us. Take me as an example. I respect cleaners or scientists, because these are boring to me and I can't do it. I used to think I was lazy, but it may also be true, because I couldn't prove it. 4. I enjoy communicating with you, because you are all authorities in this area. I like psychology very much because it teaches me many things. But I hate clinical psychologists. If you believe in common or sympathetic psychology, I think boredom is a necessary characteristic of this profession. It is painful to talk about my own emotions, because I was born to feel that it is natural to understand the emotions of others, which is inevitable in my world. I think it can be inferred that people with mood disorders have this characteristic, but I can't confirm it. 5. If I were to comment on myself, I think I am extremely contradictory. Although when I type now, I feel that what I say is the truth, but after the excitement, I will extremely question myself, because I was born to feel that I was wrong, because the people around me did not agree with me. If possible, I hope to reply to me as soon as possible. I need this knowledge to confirm my thoughts. The waiting now has brought me great pain. I hope someone will reply and say that I am wrong, because this will allow me to improve myself. 6. Although I know I will regret saying such things later, I am sure that no one knows myself better than I do. I have never seen a psychologist, so I actually don't know if I have this disease. I can only say with certainty that I have had the characteristics of this disease since I was a child, but until now I don't agree with the view that mood disease is a disease. To solve this disease, we must have strong knowledge, and then let go of this knowledge to truly feel the so-called patients. You must know/believe them in your heart. Because I think people with emotional illness will naturally know what you think. This is a kind of talent. As long as our society does not reject them, they are not patients. 7. I hope that I can talk to this authority and use him to solve the side effects of this disease. In fact, it is a lot of pressure for me. I know that it is very disrespectful for me to question you with a little knowledge. I am sorry for my arrogance, time is very important to me, every minute and every second seems to test my own xinxing, I am very harmful, and my heart beats fast and I sleep Don't teach. 8. By the way, you can speak to me in English. I know that it may be difficult for you to use Chinese, but my mind turns too fast, so I can only choose my mother tongue to speak to you. 1.
